I've never used one myself. But, the gun club I shoot three gun at won't allow them if they have a holster. The gun retention usually is not very good and often, the muzzle breaks the 180 line when reholstered. I know a couple of guys that use them for rifle, pistol magazines and shotgun rounds with a drop leg holster and they work well.

Look into a few local Surplus shops and build your own. If you really want to drop some $ and get a sweet rig, check out Tactical Tailor...I've used them prior to deployments to get a pouch here and there.

Looked at Tactical taylor... Nice stuff but Not Cheap

Geting a MOLE Plain Vest, then getting Pouches looks Spendy

The UTG Vest, everything is removable/Adjustable... So could remove all or just a few Pouches..

Hmmmmm

I tend to stay away from UTG/Leapers. Mostly airsoft quality. Those who use it occasionally will write good reviews about it but those who run hundreds of classes a year wont even touch it.

Of the top of my head Voodoo tactical and Tactical Taylor are excellent.

Buy once cry once

Tactical Tailor

New gear I got from Tactical Tailor...

Didn't want a hard case, and I liked this one for the price.

The front pocket hold 5 PMAG's perfectly. The inside has good storage options as well.

Back to what you were talking about, the newer generation Army load carriers are called the FLC (flick) and means Fighting Load Carrier...you can find some good deals if you google around. They are pretty decent as far as options, attachments and mobility.

Now I am looking at even MORE Options

LOL....

My Reasoning is also becouse when I head out to 300yds to Check Gong and Reactive Targets.... I leave my Truck and all my stuff ALONE.
So plan Is... bring as follows
Liquids
Xtra AR mags
Pistol mags
Range Finder
SnakeBite Kit
Knife
Few Replacement Targets/Pop Cans
Bushmaster Carbon 15 (light with 2pt Sling)
XDM 9mm
Walthers P22

That way any Zombies, Rattlers, Border Jumpers stop by I am ready.....;)

I never ever leave my stuff alone.

For a good low priced vest,go hit up the Military Surplus stores. They have different models to pick and choose from. Those are the ones where Mil-Spec means something. They are built to last. You can get full webbed ones, tons of different pouches... good hunting place, they can surprise you.

Mostly airsoft quality.

This made me laugh a little...ever seen 13 year old boys play airsoft? Equipment falls out of trees, goes through ponds, and those boys will hit the deck with authority!

Can't speak to this particular vest, but my son has one made by Condor that has taken quite a bit of wear and abuse...albeit from airsoft.

i have that same vest but in black and it works great. Very comfortable and alot of space.
For those who say its a "airsoft" quality, watch a few videos on youtube of a airsoft battle. Those guys/boys show up and play hard.

ya... hit the Surplus Store today.... not much ta choose from really....

Think ill get the UTG..... for $50... really cant go wrong....

try it out and see what i think.......

I contemplated getting a tac vest, but being old and grumpy I went with what I knew. For about $50 in total cost I put together and A.L.I.C.E. H harness from Mil-surplus gear found at stores and shows. It carries two canteens and a cup, med kit, two mag pouches for 6 mags total, an M12 holster with two pistol mag pouches, on the pistol belt. I put a bayonet, compass, flashlight, SAK, and 15 round shotshell holder on the shoulder harness. It's pretty much the same rig I wore in the Corps back in the 70s except for the updated med kit and shotgun ammo. It is adjustable enough to fit over any armor or shrink down to fit over just a T-shirt.

UTG Vest Arrived today

looks very nice and Sturdy

Gunna try an wash it tomorrow am before we go camping... supposed ta loosten it up a bit....

Then ill give a review of it as well...
