Is there any gap to worry about or misalignment when these are installed.
Thanks
Thanks
I was also wondering this. I saw a video on youtube where the guy was trying to install a Troy Rail and the gap was pretty noticeable. I want to install an NSR on my soon enough but not if the gap is going to be an eye-soar
I have two adapters
The HGC-1 brings the barrel nut or the back of the free float hand guard right up to the face of the indexing lugs on the upper. This leaves a 1/4" gap to the face of the picatinny rail.
The HGC-1A requires the removal of the bottom indexing lug and most of the top lug and will leave a gap of 3/32
If you look at the side and follow the front edge of the picatinny rail down, you will see a step forward where the bottom lug is. It is also the front of the pivot pin boss. The barrel nut or hand guard can go no further back than that.
The gap doesn't look that bad to my eyes, but I wonder if there is anyway you could perhaps machine a spacer in there that keys around the lugs to take up the space, perhaps Delrin or something like that?
I wanted to go the NSR route but it would have been to much work. You will have to actually trim a lot of plastic off the upper in order for it to fit without a 1/4-3/8" gap.
I wasn't ready to go hacking up my upper to make it fit. A shame because it would have looked awesome with my barrel cut down.
I could probably post some pictures tonight to show you.
