I was in Wal Mart the other day with my spoose unit, So I take a quick deture through the Sporting goods section. I turn the corner and what should appear before my eyes, but a Mossburg 12 gadge shotgun with a "Breeching stand off". For the few of ya'll that might not know what that is. It a vented peice with a "cookie cutter" at the muzzle of the shotgun. It is designed to destroy deadbolt locks during police raids. It reqiures a special progectile and training. I turned to my wife and say "That's possibly the dumbest thing, I've seen lately". It got me to thinking of all the tacticool stupidity, weve seen over the years.
My Brother-in-law seems to have this sickness, that when he gets a new gun, he absolutly has to hang every type of tactical accesseries on it. If he doesn't he becomes sullen and deppressed. Hell, he has a S&W Ar-15, that has everything but a kickstand:eek:
so, what kind of tacticool garbage have you seen lately? and if you are or know someone like my BIL, please tell us about it.

Ordered an 18 1/2 barrel from Remington with an improved cyl. choke. When it finally showed after backorder delay it had that choke attached. After a bit of research I finally figured out what I was looking at it. Being completely useless except maybe for an ask scratcher I was a bit peeved until I saw it listed for about 50 bucks. I replaced it with something a bit more traditional and stuck the breacher in a drawer.
Maybe I'll find a dried pea and turn it into a whistle.

What haven't I seen lately? I have seen those breech muzzle breaks but there are worse ones. How's this?

This shotgun muzzle attachment is called The Porcupine

There is a lot of good stuff that can be added to a rifle IF..... IF it has a purpose besides looking like it was owned by Mad Max. Unfortunately the market is over saturated with useless add ons that do nothing and will never be used in its intended purpose. All it does is separate the imbecile from his $$$

It's a bit like when people come on here, or any other board and say "I just bought X X X. What do I add next?". I usually reply AMMO and MAGS but no one wants to hear that. That's not cool. They want to hear about the Walmart Tasco scope and the Tapco pistol grip ...because they want to add but not to spend money. So no it turns into a rifle with junk on it that isn't shot much because after all ammo is expensive.

Don't get me started. .

You can blow locks off with birdshot in a pinch.

A slightly more useful selling point is that you can now use your muzzle as an effective weapon at close range. This has been taught in Israel for a long time.

Supposedly you can also use these to smash out windows.

You might think those unlikely scenarios. Probably true. But plenty of folks will say the same about needing a riot gun to begin with.

You can still smash a window with a shotgun without that. Smashing windows with guns has been done before the invention of the breech break.

Wow, till this thread I though my Winchester model 12 with its 30' full choked barrel with a flashlight taped to the barrel with black electrical tape was tactical. I have been schooled. :)

I did almost sucker into a glass breaker tip that straps around the AR bird cage. At the time I thought if I ever needed to break out vehicle glass it might be handy. I worked a ECP at the time so it seemed like a reasonable addition. For my current armchair ninja position it would be just silly.

When I first saw those, I actually thought about getting one for my 1100, just as a goof for the duck blind. Then I saw how much they wanted for one... I'll do goofs in the $20 range, that was a little too dear for a couple of chuckles from my buddies ;).

Don't think you can get them at Wallyworld yet but don't forget to add a cup holder and bottle opener to your rail.

They will buy anything that is marked "Tactical". Cabela's listed tactical floormats for your SUV.
