I just bought a 3inch barrel 686 plus deluxe with the wood grips I read that talo helped produce these does that mean mines a talo edition thanks .

Yes. The only difference between the talo version and standard is the grips

Talo is just another distributor that ordered a large amount of a model with their twist to the end product such as special grips or maybe barrel lengths. Lew Horton, Ashland and a few others come to mind. The factory always had the option of extending their offerings into a factory cataloged product if sales were high enough.

Most (but not all) of the 686 Talos were of the 686+ 7 shot variety that had '357' engraved in the wood grips.

All the original TALO 3-5-7s had unfluted cylinders. Mine does.

The dealer had one each of the 3", 5" & 7". I almost got the 3".

Once S&W dropped it's relation with TALO (or vice versa), & decided to keep that version, they went with the fluted cylinder & different grips.

What's the manufactured date on yours?
