I just purchased a Cal version of the M&P Shield in 9mm. So what if comes with a mag disconnect or the shark fin, at least I can still purchase a new Shield here in this unfriendly 2nd amendment state.

While my pistol is in jail, I was wondering which Talon grip tape texture I should consider purchasing. Rubber or the skateboard tape variety. What say you?

Unless you have workman's hands with callous build-up, stick with the rubber grips! The sandpaper ones will tear the **** out of your hands, otherwise. But, if you use gloves all of the time, then go with the skateboard tape.

I have the rubber grips on several different pistols and they are great!

Rubber.

I put the granulate on one gun. It felt like coarse sandpaper and I was always worried about brushing it against something else.

I have the rubber variety on my .40 Shield. Took it to the range for the first time last evening after putting the Talon stuff on. I think it worked very well, I'm glad I got it.

Rubberized...all the way. Better feel, better when carrying, looks better, and unlike stippling provides a little bit of shock absorption during the mild Shield recoil. Unless you are going to use in competition and/or with gloves, go rubberized.

Rubber-clean it well , apply the talon grip and use a hair blower dry to finish the job. I let had it for 3yrs and its been great.

I went with the rubber ones and love them. They recently redesigned the grips and I just put them on my Shield 9. I had the older design on my Shield 40. I like the new design and it feels great. Following the instructions is key though.

I don't know why people keep saying this. Y'all must have some girly hands. :P I don't have rough or calloused hands at all. But the granulated is definitely not too rough, for me at least.

You didn't say if you'll be carrying it concealed but if you do, one thing you might want to consider is the sandpaper texture rubbing against your skin or t-shirt...might rub your skin raw and also might rub a hole in your t-shirt.

I went with the rubberized grip.

This is a good point. If you plan on carrying, definitely go rubber.

I also went with the Rubber Talons on my 9mm Shield, My son loved them so much I got him a set for his Shield

I've had the rubber ones on my 9c carry gun for a couple years now. They are just starting to peel up at the edges, so it's time to replace them. I haven't decided if I'm going to go with another set or just add grip tape in a couple spots on the grip.

I just got the rubber in the mail and put it on today. It's a great fit and really enhances grip, without adding hardly any bulk...maybe 1/16" total.but I doubt it's that much.

I disagree. The sandpaper grips do not tear your hands up. They give you a good firm grip on the gun. The Talon grips are cheap nylon (not rubber) and they are slippery when you sweat. You must have dishpan hands.

I have had both and prefer the rubber. I have heard that there is a new one out now but have not looked into it yet.
