They didn't absorb the Rit dye like the tan magpul magazines. I was only able to get these parts to absorb the dye.

20 dips in boiling water with green and brown Rit dye for a ODgreen.

The first picture is the tan mag that I tried to use Rit dye on. The second is an old shot of my gun with a black mag.

The plastic on the 15-22 mags seem to be harder and doesn't absorb the dye. This method works great on tan magpul 223 mags. Just about any color can be achieved. For black magpul mags it is a matter of it being too dark for any color to be seen. You can't go lighter.

Another example of dyeing plastic and Rit dye.

The newer Crosman 1377 air pistols have black handles, but the older ones had the dark brown handles.

I dyed these dark brown handles a couple of years back, but notice how dark the green is. You can change the color and stay in the same tone or go darker, but you can't get a lighter color.

That's why tan works so well. Boiling the water and dye absorbs into the plastic deep enough that it will not wipe or scratch off.

I guess it's good that the M&P are made of tough plastic, but I was really hoping I could dye the tan magazines and have a OD green one. :(
