Hi All -

My brother-in-law has a Ruger Mini-14, and has been looking for the Tapco 30-round mags. Can't find them. Since we're in Colorado, we have until June 30 to get high-capacity mags in hand. I've done some looking online, can't even find them on Gunbroker or GunsAmerica.

Any suggestions?

TIA,

Dan

Dan the best Mini 14 magazine is the Ruger factory 20 round magazine, the 30 rd factory mags have had some problems. The
reviews on the Tapco Mini 14 mags are mixed, they work well in some series of minis, and bad in others. CDNN has the factory 20 round mags in stock for $40, tell him to buy all he can now. They are not as cheap as AR mags, but they are made of steel, the ones I have were bought by my dad in the late 70s and still work perfect.

All i can say is if you buy Tapco or ProMag you run the risk of having a perfectly bad mag. I would spend this time looking for oem mags.

I love my Mini---I just recently bought some 30rd steel mags for it from Sportsmans Guide for $15 a piece delivered. They are good mags and work great, I have also bought some 20's from Galati International for about $28 each that also function perfectly. Ruger mags are good but there are some aftermarkets that function just as well. One thing to think about is how the mag mounts in the rifle. Plastics will wear out really fast, especially the pin hole in the front top of the mag that it latches into. :D
