Are there any tricks or cautions when removing the target grip/stocks on my K, L, and N frames? They are all collector quality guns and I would hate to ding something up. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I usually unscrew the grip screw a few turns and then gently push inward on the screw head. This will cause the opposite grip to move away from the frame. Continue this process until the grip lifts off. Then gently push on the inside of the remaining grip (through the frame) until it also lifts off. Do not pry on any edges of the grip.

I hope this helps. Steve

Excellent advice

i would also suggest a good set of screwdrivers designed for use with guns (brownells has them) be sure the head of the screwdriver properly fits the screw...sure helps to prevent gouges and boogered screws

20-30 year old wood becomes very dry and brittle. be careful not to drop them like i did!
