Taurus Judge Anyone Else Got One ?

I've shot two different people's revolvers and both functioned flawlessly. The 45 Colt round was pretty accurate (and just in general is awesome), the .410 was little bit more snappy but the grips do a great job keeping your hand in place. A lot of people don't see the point and question their validity as a firearm but they are fun to shoot and I certainly wouldn't get in front of one with any round in the chamber! I have always said that if I find one real cheap I'd buy it! If you got yours for a good price, I'd be pleased!

Have one with 3” barrel and 2.5” chamber for the .410. At 8-10 yards the buckshot rounds are quite impressive. Very consistent fist size pattern at very close to point of aim. Haven’t shot a lot of .45 Colt thru it, but it has at least “combat accuracy “, probably better.
Probably a bit large to carry, but one hell of a nightstand gun. There are many detractors of the Judge and the Govener. Doubt any would volunteer to stand in front of one.

Yeah, I've got the Taurus Judge Magnum (not to be confused with the Raging Judge in .454) with the 3" Cylinder, which serves as my bedside Home Defense firearm

I got it last year in June because my brother owned one and handling it left a positive impression on me. I've taken it out to the range multiple times, shot hundreds of rounds in both .45LC & .410 Bore through it, and it has been perfectly reliable. It's also far more accurate than folks seem to think, especially when it comes to .410 Shotshells. Provided that you use .410 ammo that was designed for the Judge such as Federal Premium .410 Handgun 000 Buck, it will hold a tight group out to 20 yards, which is well in excess of any range one should find themselves having to use it for indoors.
Also, in spite of what some folks seem to think, the fact that .410 Bore isn't 12 Gauge and that the Judge has a barrel length of 2.5"-6.5" depending on the model doesn't reduce the effectiveness of the cartridge down to non-lethal levels. Load it up with 000 Buck and rest assured that any would-be Home-Invader who gets hit in the head or torso is going down and will most likely stay down with a single shot.

That being said, even outside of self-defense, the Judge still serves a most important role, entertainment. The Judge is extremely fun to shoot, especially with .410 Shotshells.

Winchester PDX1 loads are very effective and different than buckshot -
Winchester PDX1 410 Gauge 2-1/2" 3 Disks over 1/4 oz BB Bonded

I have always wanted to pick up a Judge, but every time I get his close, I say to myself "just hold out for a deal on a Governor" and I don't buy one. Apparently it makes that big of a difference to my subconscious to shoot .45 ACP also. Also, I am not the biggest fan of Taurus firearms, but the Raging Judge is a interesting beast..... :-)
Looks like fun though! Enjoy your new piece!

Going to pick up some buckshot loads this weekend, and hand load some 45 Colt, and see what the accuracy is like at distances out to 25 yards.

In mY particular Judge the discs were not quite as accurate as the buckshot. I like the concept though.

It's simple aerodynamics. Buckshot is spherical, allowing for less wind resistance and greater stability in flight.

Personally, I always thought that the discs were a poor concept for that very reason, but then again, due to a past interest in aeronautics I was immediately aware of the inherent flaws of such a design.

Frankly, the discs are a poor design for the aforementioned reasons. They're unstable in flight due to said design, which reduces accuracy, can affect their velocity on an individual level causing inconsistencies in performance, and can potentially result in reduced damage since it's possible for the discs to hit the target sideways or otherwise turn sideways then remain that way as they decelerate.
There's a reason why this design wasn't already popular, not to mention why no one bothered to copy it after the fact. It looks neat and on paper .40cal discs sound better than .36cal balls, but in terms of actual performance won't offer anything over conventional buckshot.

That being said, obviously they'll still be effective, just not any more effective than buckshot, but rather less so, especially considering that some of the space is wasted on tiny BBs which won't penetrate nearly as far nor deal anywhere near as much damage, ergo it's not worth it to spend any extra money nor choose them over more conventional ammo like Federal Premium .410 Handgun.

I've got one with a 6.5 inch barrel. Best Texas snake pistol I have used. And .45 is pretty accurate too.

This photo was sent to me by a customer. This is a 3" Taurus Raging Judge in a FAS1-Magnum XL quick access handgun safe. This safe is usually used with 6" full size revolvers. The holster needed for this gun to fit is out Tactical Light holster as my full size revolver holster was way too small! The gun still barely fits to give you an idea of it's size. This customer chooses to keep it loaded with .410 shot shells for home defense use.
