Had a chance to handle a Taurus .22 TX22 pistol the other day. The grip felt just like my VP9. I was thinking this would be a great training gun to help with my VP9. The grip and sights are similar with just the trigger different.

I’m also thinking of the Ruger LCP II .22 as a trainer for my new LCP Max. I love the new .380 but it would be nice to train with the .22 and conserve my .380 ammo.

Anyone own either and what do you think?

Thanks in advance

I've owned a Taurus TX22 for almost three years and have used it quite a bit. It does provide the occasional FTF or FTE but it's been rare. I keep it clean and it runs well and definitely has the "feel" of a modern wonder-nine.

I bought a Walther P22 at about the same time as it fit my son's hand well. This is admittedly a small sample size, one of each, but there is absolutely no question our Taurus TX22 is far superior to our Walther P22.

The Taurus is not terribly picky about that you feed it and is a bit more accurate than our Walther (which we affectionately call the Jam-O-Matic). If we feed the Walther anything but Remington Golden cartridges it won't even live up to that nickname. Our Taurus TX22 is one our favorite plinkers.

I understand different people have had different experiences with Taurus products. It's my humble opinion Taurus makes some firearms I can live without and some we think are well worth having in the inventory. Besides the TX22 we have a Taurus Tracker 5-shot revolver chambered in .44 Magnum and it, too, has proved a reliable and fun firearm.

Have a LCP II 22 on the truck.
Just bought a LCP Max, that 380 Ammo is hard to find!

Me too

I have one too. Love the grip and sights on the Max
Mind if I ask how bright your front sight is? Mine is pretty dim.

Yep .380 is impossible to find but luckily I have plenty of .22

I’m leaning to the LCP .22

Me 2! I got a bunch of 22 but not that much 380.
I have shot my LCP Max twice.
Front sight could be brighter.
I may add a little color.
Gonna wait til the 22 gets here and I try them both.

Picked up an LCP 22 months ago because of its great price ($230) and I always wanted a tiny 22. Mine runs great on bulk ammo.

Then the Max was released and I got one. So I bought a Hogue grip for the 22 to make it more similar to the Max. Triggers are similar and with the Hogue grip they feel fairly similar in the hand. Recoil differences make them quite different but I'm happy to have both and kind of replicate the Max when 380 ACP is so hard to find an expensive.

Love my LCPII, but after a few mags of regular, it will need to be fed Hi-Vel to operate reliably. Fits in several of my shirt pockets, which is pretty cool.
Just got a TX, but have not wrung it out yet.
