I recently bought some Fiocchi 44spec cartridges with Teflon Coated bullets. I mostly wanted the brass and the price was good. What are these bullets supposed to be good for?

It's to help protect the bore and reduce the risk of ricochet from steel targets. If it's on the base of the bullet then it's also supposed to help reduce airborne lead vapor during shooting. Anything else is marketing gimmick. An before anyone asks, no it doesn't do a think to make the bullet armor piercing.

Don't listen to the calm reason of MaximumBob. Those are evil "Cop-killer" bullets. They will sneak out of the cabinet at night and assault a peace officer!

Rule 3 is correct about their culinary benefits of course.

I can't find a listing but I read that CTD had some from Fiocchi that was supposed to be a police over run.

"This is 9mm Fiocchi ammunition, 147grain, jacket hollow point with special design to feed well in automatics. Box of 50 rounds, brass case, boxer primed, current production, police department over run. Special anti-friction coating with Teflon base to reduce lead exposure. The primer is sealed, the bullet is coated copper and sealed so it is "zero pollution" or does not leave a lead residue and hazard. This expensive ammo is being sold way below distributor cost, limited suppliers, designed for law enforcement. We are selling a 50 round box, a case would be 1,000 rounds or 20 boxes. Non-returnable item, we will not accept any returns on this."

Thank you guys. I knew I would get some great technical info from this list. I'll let you know how well they shoot but right now I'm going to make myself a 30 egg omelet. Happy New Year to all!

FWIW , Teflon , or PTFE is a very , very soft plastic. When I hear "teflon bullets" , I laugh. The old KTW armor-piercing or "COP KILLER" bullets were originally made of bronze with a tungsten core. The green teflon-based coating was meant to reduce friction in the bore.

BTW, no law enforcement officer , wearing a vest or not , was ever shot or killed with them.

More BS from the anti-gun media.
