I have been wanting a 5.7 for a while, specifically the two tone as I think it looks the coolest. Found one at a LGS and I'm marinating on it....

Tell me about yours. Do you love it? Do the mags break in so eventually you don't "need" the mag loader? How many rounds do you have through yours?

I think the tempo barrel system is cool and innovative, but wondering about long term durability (say 4,000 rds and beyond). Not that S&W wouldn't just fix it, but I hate having to send guns in for repair, been there all too often.

Lastly, I have heard that the SS195LF sometimes doesn't cycle properly in these guns, maybe because they are so fast and doesn't allow the gas system to operate properly...speculating a little, but if you've ever tried this ammo, does it work fine?

More funky than a monkey and twice as spunky.

I don't have a lot of rounds through mine, but I love shooting it. I bought it mainly to try out the Tempo system, but became an unexpected fan of the cartridge.

If you'll search on this forum, there are quite a few posts about the 5.7.

I have two and love them. I participate in weekly tactical training classes with mine and they shoot great. Only think I would point out is that they are gas operated and need to be cleaned a little more often than recoil operated pistols. The 5.7s are accurate, light in weight, very low recoil and have nice triggers. Great guns!
I use the FNH SS197SR cartridges almost exclusively and they work perfectly. I have also used the lighter bullet no-lead FN load and it worked well, too.

I love mine. Low recoil, firearm is well engineered, interesting and well finished. Decent trigger and accuracy. Definitely have to use the mag loader. Fun to shoot.

Do the 5.7 folks here also own carbines in the same cartridge ? The fact that thre 5.7 needs a longer pistol barrel was a turn off for carry to me and the grip difference does not feel like a typical full size m&p pistol ether .

Some months back I bought a couple boxes of underwood 9mm+p 68gr extreme defender ammo to test in a apex barreled m&p9 we have and in a 10.5" AR9. Velocity of the m&p 4.25" pistol with a apex gs fit barrel is 1821fps average velocity and the recoil snap of this light bullet is so very flat shooting , from the 10.5" AR9 its 2131fps average . Accuracy seems to be rather good but I still carry underwoods old 124gr +P gold dot load that's not available any more . Just had to try it but not sure about carrying it . So not need for a 5.7 in our house .

Still loving the the little skinny gun
It has a light on it is the only mod. It's the coyote or hog gun when they come close to the house and it is always with me. My Sig 220 (10 mm) doesn’t have a light, but has a red dot sight, and then there's my 610 4" that is my plinker.
