He might skate on state charges, but could still be charged federally since he's a Prohibited Person.

Whether they do or not will be a decision for the US Attorney. Then again, a Grand Jury might not indict.

As you note, it will be interesting to watch.
 
Florida does not have that "escape" clause. He could still face illegal possession charges.
 
He could have been charged....but it was a decision based on "common sense" instead of punishing the guy for doing something good. :)

Too bad "common sense" is lacking in many of the laws and judgements made today. :(

I forget the proper name for it, but its commonly referred to as the Safe Harbor Act. Aside from freedom from prosecution, as I understand it, it also protects you from having your Handgun Permit revoked for carrying in a restricted place if you have to justifiably use it.

Tennessee recently amended a law that makes it legal for Permit Holders to carry in all State, County and City Parks.

We also have a law which helps protect employees from wrongful termination for having a firearm in their vehicle on a company parking lot.

Slowly, but surely, we are making progress. I like living in Tennessee. :D
