How do you folks sore your unloaded SD 9/40 VE when not in use? Do you dry fire so the striker spring is not in tension?

Why would you not release tension on the striker if storing the gun? You will in no way damage the gun by dry firing.

Thanks for advise.

If i decide to carry this gun then I guess it the striker will be in tension then? I would imagine that S&W believes this does not harm?

You can theorize all day about which is "best", but the simple fact is that it does not matter at all. The striker spring is only partially tensioned until the trigger is pulled, anyway.

Thanks OKFC05, That is the answer I was hoping for. This is new to me and I do not yet fully understand how the striker is works.

With the sigma yes but on the SD it is pushed back a good 1/4"
