About 3 weeks ago I drove by an abandoned shopping mall and the parking lots were packed full of Tesla's - passenger vehicles and Cybertrucks. Today I was by there again and the lots are still full but this time it appears to be only the Cybertrucks. There were hundreds if not thousands of them on the lots.

I see a few Cybertrucks cruising around our area. I also see a good number of recent Hummer EV's. I assume they're leased.

The new Hummers look nice, but a $100K EV isn't for me.
The Cybertrucks are... interesting!

Most EVs border on scams, with a limited use niche and a lack of honesty about the environmental damage required to make them work. Non-plug in hybrids are less awful and we are in fact looking at getting a 2026 Forester (never buy the first year of anything). The QC at Tesla is somewhere on the far side of abysmal, too. As far as I know, the only Musk product that is not trash is the starlink stuff.

If you think inventories of EVs are swollen now, wait until the Federal EV tax credits expire on Sept. 30. After that, tax credits will be switched to reduce interest payments on internal combustion engine vehicles. So guess where the sales will go then.

Working with people that own Tesla and Rivian vehicles, IMHO they are more problem than solution to ANYTHING!
EV's have been around for way over a century and we are still at the point to where they are little more than a golf cart on steriods.
As far as Tesla's truck...seen lots full of the ugly things. Popular inasmuch as the Model 29 was after the first Dirty Harry movie...and most likely with the same result. Calling the thing ugly is probably a little rough, but it makes Zira from Planet of the Apes look like Valerie Bertinelli!

Seriously, if ol' Elon wanted to get into the truck market, he should've ressurected the body style of the old Dodge Power Wagon circa 1950...made it four door with along bed, have a small gasoline engine on a generator with two power packs each with a range of 400 miles and that when one runs out of juice switch over to the second is instantaneous and automatic....and with about 1100 hp. THEN offer that at a price under $50K. See how long those would stay on the lot..especially in this part of the world!

Teslas abound around here. At least until the next hurricane hits and the power is off for a few weeks. Gas stations within a certain distance of interstates are required to have generators to keep the pumps running. Many stations outside of that range have adopted that idea. None of the Charging stations I see have generators on standby.
