I'm loving this BG-380 after having some initial issues that we're fixed and now solid as a rock. The right laser button just stopped working and they send a return label for the laser unit only this time, so I could keep the gun. I also found it's possible to order a spare laser unit and they mark it down to wholesale if you've had issues or in a bind. The price ranges from about 90$ to 120$.

I had to retighten the laser unit retainer screw so many times during break-in it stripped. Jeff ran around the building and got me a screw, a couple of new rubber buttons and tossed them in the mail. He thanked me for my business and apologized for any inconveniences. Man this is real customer service. (Thanks Jeff)

I'm going to watch for new updates on the model and possibly buy one more for my son down the road. Just wanted to give S&W praise for their support and mention the laser spare could be ordered if someone wanted one.

On this note, I went ahead with my original plan, and bought another BG380 today for family member use. This one is EAV####

Man this one is TIGHT, compared to my other one. Really dry too. So unlike my other one, I have cleaned and oiled this one properly before it gets fired. Fixed the laser buttons and BOY it's pretty sweet.

I noticed S&W is not putting real loctite on the threads of the laser cover screw. Well this is turning out to not be a great idea. Makes the screw too easy to strip. This one was already loosely fitting the allen from the factory.

Found a better way, Use the clear rubberized glue called GOOP, in the small blue tube to place one small drop on the screw head. Then it can retain the screw fine, but when you have to change batteries the rubbery glue can be removed with tweezers or small tool leaving the screw exposed and dry.

Why not put the lock-tite on the threads? I own a BG380 but I haven't put many rounds through it yet.

Makes loosening the screw too hard and resisting, so the tiny allen wrench strips the head of the screw out way too easily. But if you retain it with a drop of Goop, that can be removed and it never actually gets into the threads at all. It kinda sits a soft rubber cap on the screw head that can be peeled off like a booger later.
