I have been using S-N-S casting for a good while now. I got started because they had a very well thought out 210gr 44cal RNFP. Nice square edge and a very large meplat. I have always been very impressed with the high quality and very reasonable prices of their bullets.

I recently had a reason to be equally impressed with their customer service. I had ordered a thousand more cast bullets and they were supposed to be delivered by Feb 22. USPS tracking showed them out for delivery and then back to my local PO for pickup. Why? Nobody knows. A search of the PO found no package and the supervisor spent 3 days checking. The carrier herself stopped by yesterday and had no idea as to where the package went. She only remembered 1 package for us on the 22nd and that was for my wife and it was delivered.

When this started I also emailed S-N-S and told them what was happening. I received a very quick response from Ryan at S-N-S asking me to keep them informed and confirming the tracking info I had reported. Today after a nothing found from our carrier I contacted S-N-S to update them and told them that they would have to file the claim for insurance because they were the shippers. I also asked that they let me know when the claim was resolved and that we could then address the lost shipment. In a very short time I received a response from Ryan saying that they would need to wait 21 days to file the claim and to please let them know if the package showed up AND letting me know that they were reshipping my order. Five minutes later I got shipping confirmation.

I consider that ABOVE AND BEYOND in customer service!

That is a good story.

I just noticed them at a local store couple weeks ago. I am not really familar with lead bullets, other then some I have bought from Hornady. I also just bought some Acme, but haven't shot them.

SNS prices seem really good, and I was getting ready to buy some.

I have started using that very bullet, quite possibly because of your recommendation.
Looks to be a good candidate for a rural carry 44 special load.

Their website shows a really nice looking .44 caliber 240grn swc . It looks like it has a flat base . Anybody tried that one ?
 
I been buying his bullets for many years now. Very affordable and fast shipping.
 
Good to hear they took care of you!

I've been using SNS bullets for quite a while in 9 and 45 and have been happy with their products.

I just loaded up some of their new coated lead SWC bullets.

Nick B I had 500 of that 44 240 SWC in the order that got lost. The replacement should be here tomorrow.
Nemo288 As for the 210 grain that is the reason I started buying them. My 696 coupled with those at 950 or so makes a great combo.

You can purchase COATED PROJECTILES or the components to COAT YOUR OWN.

I really like the stuff, NO LUBING, the coating is the LUBE, and NO LEADING, works for me.:)

It's been used in Australia for years.:)

I've considered taking the plunge into casting.
And coated would definitely be the preferred way to go.

Do you have to undersize the bullets to allow for the thickness of the coating? Or is the coating thin enough that it doesn't matter?

I thought those SNS gold coated SWCs looked pretty good in the nickel cases. I just had to take a picture of them alongside my 1911. :)

The coating really does not add thickness like the POWDER COATINGS

some people are now experimenting with.

You usually apply 2 coats.

An Australian tester/shooter has advised me to (very thin)

Coat/Size/Coat again, I have been coating twice and then sizing.



HI-TEK is based in Australia and is working on new DRY FORMULAS.

Presently in the USA the coating must come by ship because it

is a Flammable Liquid Color and a Catalyst, with YOU supplying the Acetone and mixing.

The powder mixture (not to be confused with the Electrostatic Powder Coatings) is in use in Australia presently.

The Color and Catalyst are dry powder for SHIPPING, You will just measure out some powder add Acetone and mix.



Presently the LIQUID is available in about 4 colors, 1 liter Color and a Can of Catalyst is about $68 plus shipping.

THIS WILL COAT THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF PROJECTILES. (NO LUBING REQUIRED, THE COATING IS THE LUBE TOO).


*** You need a GOOD Convection Toaster Oven, It NEED VERY GOOD HEAT CONTROL for the Catalyst.*****

I use a BREVILLE "SMART" CONVECTION OVEN BOV800XL ($250 at BED/BATH/BEYOND), it's absolutely excellent.:)



The DRY mixture may come to the USA later this year in various colors.

Some Australians are exited with the NEW ZOMBIE GREENS.:eek:


Cast Boolits site has a 131 page thread on HI-TEC coatings and other threads on Electrostatic coatings.

Your Nickle Cases and GOLD BULLETS sure are PURDY.

I started RELOADING/CASTING and now COATING for more hobbies in retirement.:)

Not trying to hijack the thread but just for info: There's a very good cast boolit forum out there that has a sub-forum on coatings. It's very informative. They are using coatings from Harbor Freight at a cheap price that apparently work very well.

We're talking about APPLES AND ORANGES.

The HARBOR FREIGHT coatings are an ELECTROSTATIC POWDER COATING method.

The HI-TEK coating is a TOTALLY different method.
 
SNS is doing HI-TEK coated bullets also, NO LUBE REQUIRED,

the coating is the LUBE, it completely ENCAPSULATES THE LEAD TOO.

Indoor shooters should appreciate that.
 
Just bought 500 44 SWC. I wanted to slug my barrel first. I have been shooting mostly jacketed.
 
I agree with all you've said about the Steiner family business. Jim has been a close personal friend for years and a top IPSC shooter.

If I was ordering from SNS, I would order normal cast bullets and the matching new coated cast bullets and compare and see if there is any performance difference.

Anyone find out what happened to the bullets. Sounds a little "funny" how they disappeared.
 
Simply amazing. The reshipped order went off the radar with a scheduled delivery date of March 3rd then today my mail carrier pulled into my driveway (which usually means a heavy package) and when I went out to meet her she says "this is your lucky day" I responded with "yes they agreed to reship my order". Then she says " That is here ALONG WITH YOUR ORIGINAL order". When I asked where they found the first order her reply was " I don't know".
Both packages are identical and the original shows no tampering or repack signs.
I suspect that I will never know into which alternate universe the first order went or why it popped out again but it is in my house now.
I sent Ryan at S-N-S an email and gave them my card number so I could pay for the extra 1000 bullets I now have.
What a ride.
