Found a nice clean used Rock Island Armory .45ACP pistol priced at $275 OTD. Got it home. Cleaned and oiled it. Shows little signs of having been fired a lot. No scratch from the slide stop being improperly installed. Sights are standard USGI type. Flat mainspring housing w/ 8 linear grooves. No Lanyard loop. Trigger is long and grooved and not short 1911-A1 type. Slide release tab is checked. Trigger pull is nice... tiny bit of creep... then breaks clean. Magazine is a eight round marked NOVAK'S on the side at the bottom and in small print is stamped ACT-MAG / PSI MADE IN ITALY. Feeds .45 ACP FMJ ammo like candy. Does not feed Win. 230 gr. JHP unless you load 7 rounds. Store owner gave me a S&W plastic case to put it in.
And... there was also a S&W 15-3 in the case. Some very minor hazing of the finish on the barrel and cylinder. In every respect a very fine, tight, nice revolver. Got it for $350 OTD. Got it home. Rubbed it with 0000 steel wool and Breakfree oil. Cleaned up very nice. Wood stocks numbered to the gun. Did not expect that. Looking at cylinder and throat of barrel, etc., does not appear the revolver has been fired. No brass rub on the recoil shield. Firing pin shows no wear. No wear on ejector rod. Stocks are the smaller checkered style not the larger target style. Outstanding single and double action. Again, store owner gave me a spare S&W plastic case for the revolver. Pictures will follow when I get a camera to work.
And the best part... when I got home my wife had spaghetti ready for supper! Trust me... she really knows what she's doing when it comes to cooking. Tomorrow is going to be a very good day!
