Everybody has one right?
We were getting a new washer and dryer delivered. New appliances hadn’t even gotten off the truck yet and THAT neighbor appears. The guy that always wants a deal or shows up when his a/c isn’t working. Can’t acknowledge that I exist unless he needs something.
What are you getting, is the first question, second question is can I buy the old ones?
They just got here I say, let me get them in first.
Starts up again, how much do you want for them? Hundred bucks for the pair, both work and the washer has new hoses I tell him and get back to the guys hooking up the new ones.
Ten minutes later he’s back, my wife says I should offer $75 and what’s the warranty?
I look at him and say hundred bucks, no warranty. Back to work I go.
Ten minutes later he’s back, I’ll take them but I don’t have a hand truck to get them to my house. Will you deliver them?
Nope not my problem I tell him and walk away, again.
Ten minutes later, a neighbor who I’m friendly with, asks to borrow my hand truck. Says he’s gonna help THAT neighbor move the appliances to his house and help hook them up.
Cash in hand before they go anywhere, $100 bucks first.
Ten minutes later I get a phone call, which hose goes where on the washer?
I’m about done with this at this point. Just hook them up, it’s a 50/50 shot if it doesn’t work, switch them. If all else fails, just look for the H and C on the back of the washer.
Back to what I’m trying to get done.
My appliance delivery guys leave finally.
Needless to say, THAT neighbor is avoided at all costs.

I guess I've been lucky. At 75, I've never had such a neighbor. A friend of mine however has one living next door and we joke about him a lot. Although he's a millionaire, he's always looking for ways to save a buck, and has the mechanical ability of a gnat - which leads him to always ask my friend to fix something for him, even though he can well afford to have it fixed or simply buy a new one. His name is Eddie and I gave him the nickname of Special-Ed, because he obviously thinks he's special.

I had one like that, he moved five years ago.

I had neighbors that was just the opposite . Young couple , newlyweds . He didn't have a lot of tools so he would ask to borrow things . He would ask politely , use it , return it promptly and tell me it was back in the shed . I finally told him that the shed was unlocked , he was friends with the Dog , no need to ask , just go get what you need . Great neighbors .

Doesn't matter that you told him "as is", no warranty, your on your own, etc.
This guy is most likely to come back to you complaining about the poor quality stuff you sold him if/when it breaks or fails in some fashion or function.

It's crazy that somebody would expect a warranty on a private transaction but there are people like that in this world .
