Bow season opens tomorrow morning, and once again, I am beside myself with excitement. :D :D

I'm like a little kid on Christmas Eve on the night before deer season. I toss and turn all night and have a hard time sleeping.
I'll wake up every hour or so and have trouble getting back to sleep.
I can already tell that tonight will be no different.

All I have to do is make it 11 more hours, and I'll be climbing up into my treestand. :D

Our gun season doesn't begin until November. I wait until the middle of December to start, so the other hunters have gotten it out of their system, and the hunting pressure is less.

Our deer season don't open till the middle of November. Just the change in the weather here puts me in the spirit of hunting. Gotta get batteries for my trail camera and check out a couple of new spots. I like being out there in the peace and quiet first of all, and if I get a deer, well that's just a bonus. I mostly hunt with a handgun and have to have a pretty close shot before I'll take it. I think I have everything ready except my tag.
peace,

We have a bit to wait before big game season.

For me, hunting season starts Sept 1 with doves.

From then until the end of January, something good to eat is in season!

Bow season starts here Oct 1 but I'll wait for cooler weather first. Gun starts Nov. 15 and is almost a state holiday which I never miss. I know those sleepless nights too.
I'm not seeing as many deer this year which I figure is due to a hard winter. I still figure it'll be easy enough to put a doe in the freezer or better yet a big buck for the wall. I'm surrounded by farm land and have been spoiled by all the deer we normally have here. Not like when I was younger and bagging a buck was a big deal and just seeing deer was bragging rights in camp.
Good luck on the hunting and forget about getting much sleep.

Bow doesn't open here until next Saturday, and of course it's the one Saturday out of the month my wife has to work and I'm left in charge of the little one. Maybe I can convince her that 17 months is plenty old enough for him to tag along with me.

I a bird hunter. The season officially opens for me September 1 with mourning doves and grouse.

Now we have invasive species the Eurasian Collard dove with no season and no limit so we have year round shooting.

Good Luck Hillbilly.
I'll wait for gun season here (mid November) as i can't
take off enough work time to hunt bow season.
Something special about Opening Day especially and that
first week.
Just the laughs and time together with buddies at Deer Camp
are what makes it for me.

Hillbilly, congratulations on the fat doe for the freezer, backstraps on the grill tonight? Our corn fed deer here are some of the best venison I've ever eaten and even my city wife likes it. I'm thinking I may have to buy a third freezer or donate most of my deer to charity as this talk makes me want to go hunting.

I finally got a taste of some grain fed white tail a few years ago.The difference in flavor between them and the sage flavored mulies I used to hunt is amazing !

YUP........ Trying to loose a few pounds so I can close my Upland Hunting Clothing. Starting to take some extra long walks with my 4 legged friend to get somewhere close to back in shape, and shooting Sporting Clays and Trap for practice. Can't wait to get back in the Field!
