My opinion, is that Chuck Hawks did reviews of interesting guns, Rutgers seemed to be his favorite and there is always good reason for one’s opinions or experience or bias. I would like to have heard his honest opinion about other folks’ complaints about Ruger’s products and qc. My own experience with their customer service was good on two occasions. I own several Rugers and have had almost all excellent experiences with all of them. Really only two troubles and it was related to P85 and p90 or P91 pistols and even those were pretty good product that many folks hated for whatever reasons….I have read and heard of many, many product complaints within S&W product lines and am always surprised and wonder if many of those complaints are sometimes severely over dramatized….the one complaint I see/hear of is time at S&W service dept and the lack of concern on customer service reps…..this concerns me although the only new revolvers I’ve purchased over the last 10 years from S&W have been and are excellent examples that rival all of my older S&Ws’. The only concern I have with either is on the model 29 Mtn gun .44 mag, there is the lock hole issue, which has given no issues except aesthetically unpleasant although the gun is tight, very accurate and the bluing is rich and shines and after removing and hiding the two sets of grips/stocks, it is one of my favorites. The other newer revolver is a 642 without the lock hole…I don’t know how they get away with producing some without it but, it would be pleasing to most if they would offer this option-sans key hole that is. Anyways, Chuck Hawks is dead and that is unfortunate, I enjoyed his videos.
