The hardest rule for me to keep.

I'm a semi-retired ne'er-do-well that wasted a fairly good education by spending as much time as possible around other shooters in talking for hour upon hours about guns owned and shots made or missed. Thus, rule 9 is difficult for me to keep. I'd never mouth off about a price being too high. As a matter of fact, a few weeks ago a responder popped off about a seller trying to recoup his expenses too quickly and before I could control my self I said that such was bad form. I hit the "Post Now" tab and I gasped that it wasn't my place. That's why guys like Thiocol get the big bucks. I drew up waiting for the well deserved whack on the nose. It never came but it didn't need to. I shared in the reprimand of the offender that followed from the proper person, though he didn't mention my breaking the letter of the rule. Lots of time it's hard to hold back on a "good deal" when I see a gun of real quality coupled with a price that is fair. It's a hold over from those sessions of conversation among sharers of this passion for guns.

I'm trying to hold my sociable comments in check even though thet're complimentary. It's hard. I imagine it would be hard on the moderator to call a guy on such a violation even though malice was not intended.

So you owe Lee some money or what????
"Rule 9. In using this forum, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless this forum, the owner, and its staff for any injury resulting from any exposure to this forum"
As his attorney you need to speak to me first

Spoken by a Bayou Bengal. But I meant this rule 9.

9. If you do not have any need to be responding in an ad, don't! This isn't a discussion forum, this is a listing service. If you have any issue with the poster, email them or the forum staff. Unsolicited dialog like "price is too high" or "nice gun" isn't needed, nor will it be tolerated.

Your neighbor to the North has a great legal tradition too. Wilbur D., Orval, Bill, Hillary, er, er, Winthrop should count for chopping up the slot machines. Lucky luciano had a place in Hot springs. It's tough to top Jim Garrison, Judge Perez, the Longs, Gov. Edwards for colorful statesmen. We do beat you on the gridiron, once in a while. We do hold one superlative secret in common with ya'll (not counting mud bugs). The Mayhaws will be falling before long and the best jelly anywhere will soon be causing my blood sugar to soar.

I hit the "Post Now" tab and I gasped that it wasn't my place.

See that center yellow button at the bottom right side of your post? When you hover your mouse over it, it says, "Edit or Delete Message". Click that button and make any necessary changes you wish, or even delete the post altogether by clicking on "Delete Message...?"

I have to admit that I've broken the rule Butch cites, and recently too.

This is a case of where I can't stand such behavior from others, but find it excusable when I do it.

It really does screw up the Classifieds, especially when a popular forum member posts something for sale. You have to sort through pages of jokes, quips, virtual backslaps, testimonials etc. to see if the item(s) offered have been sold or not.

Thanks to Butch for bringing this up.
I will swear off breaking this rule and hope others stop the practice as well.

First to admit there are probably features to the forum I haven't discovered yet as far as how the program works in allowing accessing all the info or editing tricks, but I'm constantly amazed at the folks who don't seem to realize they can delete their own posts, edit them and even edit/change the titles of their own threads.

This Rule is in place to reduce the amount of Band Width being used which is what makes this place cost so much. The the simple, short and truthful answer. Just to give your 'Buddies' Post a bump isn't doing anything but costly Lee Dollar$$$. So far Lee is footing the bill and unless we want to start paying for being here we should pay attention to this Rule.

I know the rule is to save bandwidth but surely you don't mean to stop the posting of "fun drivel" in such as the Lounge

Don't worry about it.
We have become so busy, we have moved into a whole new level of bandwidth usage, so pruning won't even help. Post away. Maybe the Great One will bail us out.....

However, Rule #9 for the classifieds is MAINLY to let an ad drift down the page- AS IT SHOULD. Everyone deserves for their ad to have front page time, and all the needless comments bump it back up UNFAIRLY to the other ads.

At the risk of sounding a total kiss up (note careful wording) the "Great One" just spoke. I know the mods exercise a lot more patience Than I could muster yet still not let things get out of hand. (I might be a kiss up).

And not to kick a sleeping dog, is there a way that a member can contribute monitarily? I never saw a resolution to a movement that seemed to be afoot then apparently stopped. If I over stepped my bounds, just say so.

The last I heard on the money issue was that Lee, at this time, will not accept monitary contributions. Lee also said that he would let us know if and when this changes. If it has changed please let me know so I can send a check.
