according to the standard catalog of S&W 3rd ed in the knife section it mentions this set. Hostiles print, hostiles buckle, and hostiles engraved knife. it says 1984 $850 I can not find any info on this set and have never seen one for sale. Surely someone out there must know about this set. Years ago I heard that they did not do the complete run. any info, value, old ad in some gun publication, S&W catalog?? HELP! I have # 139 of 1500 Glass front walnut case. THANKS! [email protected]

I guess this must not exist, I must have the only one ever made! 19 views and no replies. On gunbroker ask the experts I think I now have over 70 views and no one there knows a thing about this either. Anyone know who I can ask next??? Harry

They did the complete run. The knife is a Maverick #6061 with a rosewood inlay, 440 steel blade that is acid etched and 14 karat gold plated. The buckle is gold and rhodium electroplated. I paid $375 a few years ago so perhaps $850 is a little high. They are not often seen but do come up every now and again. Here's what it looks like for those that haven't seen it.

i got my hostiles print from jim fish at the s&w service center in tampa in the early 1980's.only seen about two-three since then. he was a great guy and knew more about s&w's than most have forgotten. he gave it to me. te

I've had two or three sets over the years.
The last one sold at the 08 annual meeting of the SWCA. I donated it to the auction. Stuff usually goes pretty high at the auction, but maybe all the guys who wanted one already had one. As I recall, it only brought $250.

I too have had several over the years. Interestingly, each one I've aquired was numbered lower than the last. I have sold them for as much as $500.00 and bought my last one from a knife dealer at his price of $100.00.

Hostiles print, knife & buckle in wood frame.

Hello, Yes I have #1497 of 1500. I found it on ebay. Opening bid was $50 plus $20 S&H. No one bid on it but me. It's a fantastic find.I collect S&W belt buckles and was very happy to add this to my collection.

#105/1500 is hanging in my entry hall and has been for a while. I picked up # 1182 recently in its original corrigated shipping box with the label numbered to the picture/buckle/knife. They come out every once in a while. Worth about $500-550.

Great looking display Jim. I came across this "Hostiles" buckle, model 600 but it has silver, copper and brass. I was told S&W gave it to a big gun shop owner in the late seventies. Do you known any information on this special buckle or have you ever seen one?

I'll have one for sale on my table at the Boise meeting. (Or trade for a couple of Reg. Mags, in their original boxes, of course! ) Ed.
