The Long and Short of S&W's K38 - A Pictoral Essay

After acquiring an 8 3/8" model 14 a few days ago (see earlier thread), I managed to complete the set of all regular production barrel lengths that were offered in the K38 Masterpiece series. I decided to take a family photo of the completed set to celebrate the occasion! In case anyone thinks I forgot, lol, I am aware of the 4" HB model 14s, including the Dayton guns, as well as the existence of 5" K38s in both the tapered and heavy barrel. I learned about both thanks to this forum! I am talking about regular production barrel lengths offered on the K38 during the 1961-1982 pinned barrel time frame of this forum. Enjoy!

Nice group. My most recent acquisition is a 1980 mfg 8 3/8" Mod 14-4. Anxious to get it out to the range. I could shoot a K38 off a rest all day.

Thanks for your reply! I totally agree! The only think more pleasant to shoot than a K38 is a K22.

Very similar to my study of shooting K 38's a few years ago. I shot each one individually, but with this target behind each individual target for a composite of all of them. Brought back good memories.

Had a complete set of K-38s at one time. Down to one keeper, this Model 14-1 with three Ts.
