The Missus bought me a health supplement. Seems a little contradictory.

Missus P&R Fan is constantly worried about health issues. I am healthy as a horse and never get sick. I do, however, suffer from TB. No, not tuberculosis, Tiny Bladder. I drink all day long. Coffee, Diet Pop and Sobe Lifewater. I have to pee constantly. A while back I was getting up a few times a night, which really disturbed my sleep. She of course went on-line and diagnosed my problem. Must be a prostate issue. (Just a note, I have NO problems that are related to that glands function. 'Nuff said, if you get my drift). Got me a supplement which is supposed to make sure that gland is in perfect health. I'm reading the instructions and it says to take it twice a day....with a full glass of water.

Somehow, I sense a problem here.

Jim,

Don't know what that supplement is, but enlarged prostate is likely the most common physical problem among men past middle age. My supplement is called Beta Sitosterol, and it flat out works -and only takes enough water to get it down.

It's called Prostaprin.

Just took the first tablet for the heck of it.

Didn't drink a full glass of water. Had a half a pot of black coffee. That has water in it.:D

Hey P&R Fan..

Just make sure you have regular check-ups with a Urologist!!

Two of the best herbal medicines for prostate health is
Saw Palmetto and Pygeum.
Many companies now make supplements in combinations. It is best to buy the two in separate form!

This is used for prostate health and is mostly used for Prostatitis(inflammation of the prostate).
And it has been known to help in the bedroom!

Just a note about Beta-sitosterol... it has also been linked to reports of erectile dysfunction (ED) and loss of interest in sex.
It's main use is to lower high cholesterol.

I don't have issues with any of the problems you list. Not gonna go any farther or I'll get (another) ding.

I don't go to doctors. In my almost 25 years of marriage I bet I've been to the doctor maybe 5 or 6 times. Once after my Dad died quite young of a heart attack and my Grandma made me go and get a checkup. Only other times were for strep throat and to get a cut stitched up.
Ain't no way I'm gonna have THAT area examined.
I'll take my chances.

If you love your wife, you should have the exam for her sake. As they say, "an ounce of prevention, is worth a pound of cure".

You are taking a BIG chance! I'm sure you would not want the Mrs. To get breast cancer and you face a similar danger. Yell at me if you want but you need to get tested annually unless the doc decides your age no longer requires it.

So many medications and supplements have side effects, and medications or supplements for the side effects, that it often starts snowballing.

Food is fuel for the body, and our bodies benefit from quality fuel. Lots of veggies, fruits. Protein is good. Some fat is necessary. Carbohydrate intake, however, is not necessary for the human body. Avoid refined sugar and refined grains.

The less medications and supplements you take, the better!

My Urologist told me that every man will get prostate cancer if they live long enough...

humm, guess the question is "When"?

I've said this before on here but I'll do it again. I take the Rafe Hollister view of doctors. Rafe was the moonshiner on The Andy Griffith show. The county nurse wanted to give him a tetanus shot. Rafe refused saying he didn't need doctors. He said "When I was born I had my Momma, when I die I'll have the undertaker. Don't see any reason to mess things up in between":D
We need more guys like Rafe.

You mean it will stop my wife's snoring??

As far as the wife getting you pills and such-I wouldn't worry-but when she starts buying you life insurance-that's the time to start worrying!

At my age the term "pulling an all-nighter" means not having to get up at 2 am!

My Doc gave me a pill that I take every night before bed, works great at getting a full nights sleep. Glad I got it.

Caj, maybe you can give me some free legal advice. (Bet you here that a lot, doncha?).:D
A while back I came downstairs and casually asked Missus Fan what she was looking at on the computer. It was my life insurance policy death benefits. Her explanation was the cat had eaten the paper copy of the bill. I was born at night, it wasn't last night. I slept with one eye open for a while.
Should I be worried?
Jim

I went to the doctor once with what I (and he) thought was a minor problem. Got some pills for it, it went away, came back, did the pills thing again...same thing, went away, came back.

Doc says "I'm going to have you see a specialist. This isn't a symptom of prostate cancer, but it won't hurt to have someone check it out."

Specialist talked to me and said, "Nothing to worry about. It's probably nothing but to just to rule out cancer, we'll do a biopsy."

I got a call a few days later. "Guess what? You beat the odds. You've got prostate cancer." That was 13 almost 14 years ago. I was 48 years old.

I thought it couldn't happen to me either.

My son found he had prostate cancer at age 50, problem was it had already matastisized through all of his lower glands. He is now in his third year of an ongoing battle.
My advice is don't mess around with possible prostate problems.

I was diagnosed with an enlarged prostate at 38 years old. So I have been taking meds for my prostate for 28 years. One doctor thinks my prostate problem is related to Agent Orange.

Ck up

Would you rather hear see you in 3 years only 2 polyps looks good or Sorry if we could have only found it sooner he would have made it. OldSeabee
