I once had to take a complainant to talk to the detectives. While we are sitting in the squad room the complainant, a real Brooklyn hipster type, was clearing uncomfortable being around all these cops and tries to make small talk. He says to none of us in particular, kind of asking the room, what is the most realistic cop show. Without even hestitating two detectives simultaneously yell out "Barney Miller!!!". Mr. Skinny Jeans was dumbfounded but they were right.

I vote for Jimmy McNulty from The Wire.

And I thought all those super foxy chicks that are kung fu masters, quickdraw experts an' scientific geniuses in the low cut dresses workin' the homocide squads in Miami an Vegas an New York City were realistic, que no?

Sir, my cousin is an emergency room doc, so awhile back I asked her which was the most realistic ER show. She said, "Scrubs."

Hope this helps, and Semper Fi.

What no votes for Frank Cannon ???
Looks like he visited a few doughnut shops.
I always liked the scenes where they had him running or
doing some crazy jumps or fights.

Barney Miller's crew, probably the best group of cops on TV.

Detective Arthur P. Dietrich would always crack me up.

NYPD also had these two guys.
