I got to watch the new movie Zero Dark Thirty online last night. I really liked it. Read some follow up articles about how accurate the movie was.....most stated many parts were inaccurate but the movie gave you the "idea" of how things panned out. Anyone else watch it yet?

I watched it at the cinema. I thought it was suspenseful and well acted. I know it was snubbed because the liberal establishment didn't like the idea that waterboarding led to the killing of Bin Laden.

In the Navy Seal's account "No Easy Day" he gives "Jen" a lot of credit for taking Bin Laden.

I recommend reading "No Easy Day" by Seal Team 6's Mark Owen, "The Finish" by Mark Bowden (author of Black Hawk Down) and "Seal Team Geronimo" by Chuck Pfarrer.

I hold Pfarrer's book to be a bit suspect as to some of the facts.
You'd have to read it in conjunction with the other two books to understand what I mean.

The wife and I enjoyed it, I read it didn't get much in the way of awards due to the waterboarding scenes, but compared to what those followers of the Koran do, a little water is nothing.

I get Esquire so I read the article "The Shooter" about the Seal who is supposed to be the one who killed UBL, it's getting attacked as being inaccurate, but I think overall it feels pretty accurate in it's description of the raid.

The movie is worth seeing IMHO...

bobcat,

I read the early stuff on "The Shooter" and I didn't see anything he said that was materially far off from what Bowden or Owen wrote.

It's not uncommon for people to experience the same event and give somewhat different versions as to what happened.

ZDT was a good movie, for what it was about.

But I believe every concerned citizen should watch that movie Red Dawn (the newer version). We could only hope that day never comes.
