The next year will be make or break 2A Rights

It is estamated between 70and 80 million people own guns. Now how is the government going to confiscate that many guns. If their was a way why don't the government go to southern Chicago and get all of them gang bangers guns and leave us law abiding citizens alone? Do they really think we are going to disarm ourselves after what has happened down through the years when government's has confiscated people's guns.

I have noticed that a lot of posters here don't know enough to stay out of boats when they are in possession of their guns.

They can't keep drugs or illegals out of the country so how they gonna keep guns out?

I've read on other gun site's that some would give up their guns but would be giving them the bullets first.

Course I do remember Waco and Ruby Ridge where are own law inforcement and military killed civilians.

So maybe you should start thinking what course of action you are going to chose.

Everyone knows that only Congress may declare war. Right. A rose by any other name...

Watch the Federal Government and the ways and means they have to circumvent "due process". Doesn't take Charlie Chan or Sgt. Friday to see how it's been done.

People actually think we're a Constitutional Republic, that ship left port many years ago.
The Constitution is what they say it is when they say it.
The courts are as corrupt as the other branches.

God help us.

As an after thought, I have to wonder if the only Constitutional Amendment that is important to that someone in particular, you know, the one calling us "terrorists",is the 5th.
I guess that means some of our Bill of Rights are taken seriously and some mean nothing.

....... The "interpretation" by the SCOTUS is what will bring about draconian restriction of firearms, and the new appointees will be in the Highest Court.
.......

I, most sincerely, wish you were right; but you're wrong. For the past 50 or 60 years a new malevolent legislative cancer has been systemically growing in America. It's called, 'Presidential Executive Orders'; and, unknown to the majority of the nation, these executive orders are, now, positioned to supersede any and all historical (normal) enforcement of constitutional law.

All it will take for people to suddenly realize that this is true is another national crisis like, say, Hurricanes Rita and Katrina back in 2005. FEMA, acting largely under color of authority provided by these awesome presidential announcements, will (quite literally) steamroller over any historical concept of constitutional law that you and other law-abiding Americans presently have in mind.

Lest anyone forget, it's already happened! Remember the old woman with the antique pistol who was tackled by ambiguously dressed FEMA agents, beaten to the floor, and then handcuffed while she was standing inside her own kitchen? Remember the armed men wearing unmarked black BDU's who forced numerous people to remain stranded on isolated bridges without: water, food, or medicine for as long as 3 days! (That's not charity; nor is it disaster relief.)

The hurricanes that struck New Orleans in 2005 were just the beginning; and, for those few people who reality forced to recognize the darker side of modern American government - its incompetence, dishonesty, and totalitarian disposition - these crises serve as a foreboding harbinger of what is, yet, to come!

The next national crisis - and there will be a next national crisis - is going to change the American Republic along with its elected representative democracy FOREVER.

(You'll see!)

Look at today's second circuit court decision on the New York and conn. Gun control laws being upheld! We got the shaft in New York a long time ago and they just keep pushing it deeper. If the courts rule it is ok for states or localities to restrict the second it will be open season on gun owners.

What if they passed a law and nobody complied? Does this country really want to turn tens of millions of law abiding gun owners into criminals?
My gut tells me millions and millions will not likely voluntarily surrender their legally owned guns. Will they bring explosives and safe crackers to start opening safes in our homes? And all the while we were worried about WWIII when the next big one could be Civil War II.

We already have the answer as several states have tried it and few complied. And these are blue states. In my opinion they will look for examples like RR and Waco and ideally they would love a larger scale new orleans. The only reason they got away w that is because their target was poor minorities. Thats why cities like Chicago and Baltimore have such draconian laws. What is encouraging with nutjobs like certain candidates is that their craziness is only bringing together gun owners of all types who will not accept this nonsense. I have always believed this one candidate would be the one to bring this to a head and I hope this keeps up because we all know we will win this in the end.

The one thing politicians value above all else is their jobs. They don't call the 2nd Amendment the 3rd rail of politics for nothing. One person and her husband in particular should remember this better than anybody.

It appears to me that we as gun owners have made good headway in expanding gun rights in the last decade or so.

Do we need to remain vigilante? Certainly.

Are guns going to be illegal next week? No.

Surely politicians have learned by now that gun control is a loser issue.

There's sure been a lot of guns sold the last two-three years. I'd hate to be in charge of confiscating them.

There are two prevailing opinions regarding this thread:
1. There is a significant chance for significant encroachment on second amendment rights.
2. The folks suggesting the above are unnecessarily worried and there's no significant chance of encroachment on second amendment rights.

My opinion is that to one degree or another both are right. I'll concede it's unlikely there will be a serious infringement on second amendment rights but I will concede it's possible. The problem is that once it happens it's like falling off a cliff. You're helpless and out-of-control ........ at least for awhile.

Supreme Court justice Sotomayor wrote, "I can find nothing in the Second Amendment's text, history or underlying rationale that could warrant characterizing it as fundamental insofar as it seeks to protect the keeping and bearing of arms for private self-defense purposes." Imagine four other justices of the same opinion as Sotomayor? I would suggest it's not a far reach to suspect Kagan, Ginsberg, and Breyer would join Sotomayor in an opinion denying an individual right for firearms.

In joining a John Paul Stevens opinion, current Supreme Court justices, Ginsberg and Breyer, in somewhat contorted language agreed there was not an individual right regarding firearms.

In two relatively recent Supreme Court decisions regarding the ACA (Affordable Care Act) the court has basically rewritten or significant changed the original law (interpreting "penalties" as taxes and deciding "State exchanges" didn't mean "State exchanges"). It's not unheard of to occasionally expect bizarre or unexpected opinions expressed by the Supreme Court.

Well there it is gentleman, you can see the handwriting on the wall. If that article from Ladder13 doesn't get you to join NRA what will? The Blue Helmets banging on your door to relieve you of your home protection.

This is serious stuff. Lets get the NRA symbol next to everyones name.
The NRA and a few other organizations are the ones fighting for our rights.

What I have read in the article will certainly cause Civil War 2 down here in the South.

Phil Bryant our Governor will never go for something like that of New York State.

Stop! Stop! You're scaring me.

Frankly, I don't think, 'they' have ever been closer to achieving gross national disarmament; and the continuing influx of tens of millions of unofficially landed, but tacitly sanctioned, and quasi-legal immigrants - All of whom are largely ignorant of American history and constitutional law, and whose families hold no vested interest in either America, or its constitutional history - is effectively helping this nation's big, modern, 'run-amok' government to disarm America's legal, and formerly well established national citizenry.

I mean let's face it! It's time for a reality check. If George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin were alive today, they'd ALL be on the government's domestic terrorist watchlist - Yes! It's NOT 1776 anymore.
