Greetings and salutations,

I've searched and searched and have been unable to find a chart or list or "key" to the old George Lawrence holsters. I've run across a dozen versions of the 3 digit system adopted in the 50's, but that doesn't help when I run across a vintage holster.

I have a couple catalogs from the period between 1930-1950 but they remain a mystery. They have the top level holster number and show various options, but nothing about specific firearm to holster fitting.

I searched this forum and came up with 1400 threads with Lawrence in the title. I do love to browse your wisdom...but...

Is there a source that has the master list or some type of key?

In this case the holster is a pre-1940 #7 with the following:

7
MAKER MARK
22A
6-1/2

That one is a model 7 shoulder holster sized for a 6 1/2” .22 auto, probably a Colt Woodsman. Pre-war Lawrence holsters are usually stamped with barrel length and a brief identifier such as SA, NS ( New Service) OM ( Officers Model ), M for a S&W .357 Magnum, .32 for a small frame revolver or .32 auto and .38 indicating a medium frame double action revolver. The 3 digit size code was first cataloged in 1963-4, earlier post-war holsters had a different group number system shown below. I’ve been puzzled a few times but have usually been able to figure out what gun the holster was made for.
