just bought 2 of the other Wessons .Model hi standards made by Dan Wesson model SENTENAL #2 1 with rubber grips .4" barrel .357 magnum, the other a wood grip 357 with a 4"barrel,YES i know 2 of the same ???.AT the price i think i just paid for the wood grips for the 2nd one. Neither gun appears to have been fired no marks on recoil shield ,no loss of finish but alas no blxes or papers but i will live with that for 2 good 357 for under $400.

I had a buddy in College that had a Dan Wesson 6” bbl revolver and it was really accurate. Beautifully blued too.

Sounds to me like the walter o scored on a good deal. I have a Dan Wesson 44 mag. Instead of shooting my hot hand loads in any of my S&W's I use the D.W.. Built like tanks.

One of them is a "Pork Chop" gun, but even if both of them are, you got one of them basically for free. The last 15-2 I bought was just about $400, and was insanely dirty and loaded with giant flakes of unburned powder.

Oh you got them at a deal!

I have a great fondness for DW. I first seen them in gun magazines of the period (I was 12 or 13!) but liked Ruger and S&W more (Ruger for strength and S&W for looks!) My dad had bought a Ruger and my cousins had S&Ws I could shoot. One of the ads I recall for DW was a full page ad in the major gun magazines with a pic of a DW revolver and a pic of Dan Wesson himself and the ad featured DW saying "I'm sure as h*** not winning any popularity contests these days..." which was addressing the backlog of orders and being behind on production. All of this was just information I filed in the back of my brain UNTIL the TV show "Vega$" came on, and the lead character Dan Tanna (Robert Urich) carried (and used) one! I loved the lines and look of it and the deep blue finish. Being a TV nut, I also noticed one on an episode of "TJ Hooker" where Shatner accessed one from his car (while off-duty).

I did end up buying one from a cousin when I was about 17 or 18 (15-2VH 6" just like Dan Tanna!). I LOVED the deep dark blue finish paired with the Zebrawood grips-the light colored wood and the stripes that was a feature of early DWs!I loved it but ended up selling it to purchase something else. A buddy also had a 4" model, and we got in a bunch of mischief late at night/early in the morning on rural back roads with these. Sadly-neither of us were good revolver shots back then having had no formal training (and oh the irony that we both became not only law enforcement officers but firearms instructors and did 30 years-with me still part time!)

A neighbor had one also (15-2VH blued 6") and he WAS a good revolver shot . Granted-I don't condone this now as an adult (I'm actually a bird watcher also) but I watched him shoot a small bird (likely a wren:() from at least 15 to 20 yards away!) holding the gun with one hand and firing single action!

Hadn't thought about DW much until about 3 years ago when an older friend (early 70's) told me he bought a well used one in a gun store for $250. It is a very functional 4" blued but it was not pretty-he bought it specifically for a "tractor gun" saying he didn't want a nice gun for that purpose (he has NICE ones believe me!)

***Edited to add that I found the ad from 1978 I was referring to! AND just bought it on eBay.

Wow fine price on the Dan Wessons!

The only negative on them is the excess weight for EDC. Other than that they are finely engineered and accurate.

Congratulations on some great additions to the family

I have owned multiple Dan Wesson revolvers, in several calibers, going back probably to the 1980s or so. The absolute favorites of mine, which I still own, are chambered in 41 Magnum and 357 SuperMag

My best looking one, at least in my opinion, is this 8" Model 40 that I've owned for about 20 years now

The one that I end up shooting the most however is this nice 41 Magnum that I acquired quite a few years back

Thanks to the Dan Wesson barrel nut I was able to satisfy my inner Maxwell Smart by getting a barrel nut with 1/2-28 threads on the other side

Yes I love Dan Wessons
almost as much as
I love my Smith and Wesson

Interested in another 15-2 with a 4" and 8" barrel shroud plus a buehler mount for a scope or ultra dot optic . Also a 22lr version with a 4" barrel combo. Family member have no interest in them and I still have another 15-2 with a 4: and 6: combo if I need a revolver for carry . That ones my wifes and were both 68 now .

I just got a 4" VH barrel assembly for my 715 from CZ USA. Best deal ever on GB back in 2006, 6" VH $269 in the box, almost mint condition, paperwork, 3 grips, parts, junk wrench.
