The perfect grip for your hand?

When I say grip, I don't mean the stocks, I mean the whole thing. The grip frame, the grip length, the stocks and their shape and finish, and the overall feel of the whole. From all the high tech rubber to all the exotic lumber to choose from what do you favor the most? Me, I'm still trying to narrow it down to one from two. Kim Ahrends makes his Tactical model stock that for my hand feels like it was made for it. Finger grooves or no, I love that stock on an N frame. But my sudden new love is for Altamont magnas with a BK grip adapter. The BK locks in top and botton for no wiggle to feel like it is part of the grip frame. The Altamonts have a different profile than the standard skinny to fat of the factory magnas. The top has an ever so slight swell for a high hand hold that fits my hand like a dream. So for your viewing pleasure, I present my latest Altamont in super rosewood with BK grip adapter on my Model 64 and my ever being posted Model 28 in Kim Ahrends' Tactical in cocobolo:

I'm still a bit of a n00b so I haven't really tried a lot of different stocks, but regular S&W large target stocks on a K frame fit my hand really well. Here are the beauties I got from VM. Unfortunately they don't work real well with speedloaders. When the M66 got promoted to bedside duty I put the Pachmayer Grippers back on.

I'd have to go with my M10-8 with stock grips and a Tyler. I have a Colt Diamondback that is very nice, but the Smith fits better. Don't even get me started on my Glock 27, blech. My 637 is much better than that.

Craig Spegel boot grips if I could afford them. Uncle Mike's I can swing but they never made them for the 'N' frames. T-grips are comfortable and pleasing to the eye.

Most of mine are N frames and ALL of mine are shod in Hogue wood, smooth, finger.

They fit me right and I like 'em.

all my j frames wear the s&w dymondwood grip panels and either a tyler t-grip, or an old s&w grip adapter. great for carry. my 12-3 wears a hogue finger groove. so comfy! also nice to take to the range. might have to get some of those bk grip adapters so many of you seem to be talking about.

these ones,

they started out as chunky "N" frame combats, way too big & fat.
I put them on a round butt "K" frame and started removing everything that didn't feel right.
Then, took it out & shot it, just point & shoot, NO aiming, removed & thinned the "wood?" untill it hit to point of aim, they literally fit like a glove..
for factory, I'm lucky.. have big mitt's and the stock "N" frame "grips" fit rather well for me, unless they are "cokes" which I think fit perfect.
However, my wallet complains about the "Cokes"

I'm going to go with Spegel boot grips, with Ahrends boot grips a close second.

Spegel's get the nod because I really like the palm swell they use. I don't have big hands and most finger-groove grips I've tried spread my fingers too far apart for a good grip; the grooves on Spegel's grips fit my hand well and aren't even noticed. I only have them on my 642, but someday I want to try a set for my K-frames.

Ahrends boot grips fit my hand well and are available without finger grooves. I also like the tung oil finish; smooth without being slick.

The most perfect grip in my hand is the Hogue Combat Rubber on my P239. Points just perfectly for me.

Second best is the 500 Magnum monogrip on my model 620.

While it may seem a bit odd, the grip circumference of the 500 Magnum monogrip is actually slightly smaller than the grip on my P239. Trigger reach on the P239 is just a touch shorter but not enough to throw me off with either and I really like the traction that rubber grips provide. So, the only time you'll see me shooting with wood is with a 22 caliber or a rifle.

My favorite gun for overall weight and pointability has got to be this 65-4 with target grips. They really fit my hand size to a T.
