In my early car customizing days, the term "phantom" was often used to describe a custom that resembled a factory model, but was never actually produced by the OEM.
Taking inspiration from BMCM, Green Frog, Guzzitaco, and others, I've decided to build a 3967, utilizing a less than pristine 3906 frame and a 3914 slide. This is where it stands after some slight fitting of the two components. Future mods will likely include adjustable LPA sights and possibly KSD grips. Did I mention that I love reverse two-tones?

A man after my own tastes . I have a CS45 and a CS40 that I got spare slides for and sent them off to Guzzi . He cut his patented mod's in them , added LPA adjustable and blued them . The CS40 went to BMCM first and got configured to 10mm . I have another Guzzi did , just can't remember what it is . But I too like the 2 tone look , fleabay gets business from me looking for spare slides . Everygunpart is a good place to look also .

sick as hell! what did you have to do in order to get the slide on the frame? any heavy mods or was it pretty light?
The barrel fit between the camming lugs was a little tight in a couple of spots, I had to open the clearance just a couple of thousandths.

I'm feeling a Frankengun thread coming on. ;) :p

.

Last month I acquired this chromed Model 17 with a 647 cylinder and sleeved barrel to accommodate those tiny .17s. So far it's my only post-factory "Frankengun".

That came out really nice.

I agree that the two-tones look really great. (Blued/black on top, not like my TDS CS40 stainless over black.) Other than my 745 of course all of mine are PC examples. I can and have made up some really cool ones but they are not dedicated, except one.

Not sure if it matters but I've kept the mk3 slide stop in the Shorty 40 lower. It's a happy "phantom," that should have been a factory offering.

@4T5GUY, You're right, Jim, your "phantom" 40 should have been a factory offering, it is a near identical match to the Shorty9 I have, save the LPA sights.
I'm probably going to use the Shorty series frames as a model to break some of the sharp edges on the trigger-guard and mag release areas, as well as matching the slide reliefs to dustcover front. I've always felt that the factory should have done this on all the pistols of that era. I'm also contemplating soliciting Guzzi's skills to add the PC cuts to the slide at a later date. I've got a 4516-1 that I've got to get to him first.

I have a brace of 6915s ; 6906 frame mated to a 915 slide/barrel.

I built one and got the other from Squidsix.

Guns are great CCO carry guns; short butt, 12+1, single sided safety and reverse two-tone. Spare mag are 15rd 59xx mags with the +2 adaptors..... guns carry nicely in a Sparks Summer Special for 59xx guns!

My guns and liking were inspired by my liking the Performance Center SD9, an all stainless steel 6906 frame matted to a PC designed 4 1/4" barrel and slide. I own one of the179 built around 1994 as part of the 500gun "Stocking Dealers" special run in 9mm .40S&W and .356 S&W. While I EDC'ed a 3913NL I used the SD-9 as my gamming gun for USPSA and IDPA in the 90s and early 00's.

During that same period my "hi-cap" carry was a PC Shorty-9 [the PC's rendition of the 69xx guns]

Until I joined here and discovered how few of these guns existed!!!

They are very nice pistols, I've got both the SD356 and SD40, but haven't found a SD9 yet. The 3566 compact is the same size and feel as the PC9, but with the added weight of the stainless frame!

I was surprised and somewhat humbled to see my name in the distinguished list of those who provided you "inspiration" for this build. I guess one never knows where their own random ramblings may lead others. I have to say though that yours is an inspiration all of its own!
