Has anyone else noticed that the reputation of the sigma on the internet has improved over the last couple of years? I have.

I belong to several forums as I know many of you do too.

It seems like more and more people are standing up for the sigma by saying things like:

Reliable, ergonomic, trigger is no problem for me, eats everything, etc...

Just an observation, but the number sigma bashers has diminished.

Call it entry level, starter gun, Glock nock off, whatever you want, but the bottom line is, it just plain works. More and more people are discovering this as I read in the forums.

Personally, I'm greatful to Big Lee for creating this sub forum; gives us lowly sigma owners a friendly place to hang out!

I have both the 9 & 40 and like them, I don't find anything wrong with the sigmas. If people want to spend 3 times the money for other guns more power to them but the sigmas are as good as any other gun. It would seem the people that buy the sigma is using common sense and they can buy more ammmo. LOL :)

I too have a Sigma 9 and a Sigma 40. I also have Sig's, Glocks, Colts, Smiths, Rugers, Kel-Tecs, Hi-Point (carbine) .....etc. However, it is the Sigma 9 that resides in my bedside table -- I trust it that much!

I think you owe yourself a pat on the back for a lot of that, Leejack - you've been a real apostle for the model and a lot of people owe you for their enjoyment of fine pistols that they otherwise wouldn't have known about. :)

I love my SW40. I shoot the cheapest ammo I can find out of it, steel casings, russian stuff, reloads, you name it. It eats it all and loves it.

Ive never had A FTF or a FTE.. EVER! and I put everything from crud steal casings to some zinger hand loads through it. I know every time I pull the trigger with a round in the chamber, there is going to be a boom fallowing directly after. That IMO is worth 200 bucks.

have had an allied forces 9ve for a couple of yrs.. no regrets. I'd buy another one. it is what it is. a good solid gun. I hit where I aim. I could shoot it all day. it's not a high end gun. it's not a target gun. i don't carry it for size reasons. But I would trust my life to it.

on a separate note, I recently sent mine in for service and whatever they did to the sear block ( i think ) was amazing. no more grittiness. It is so dramatically different and smooth that I'm wondering if it is a new redesigned sear block.

Well for some reason mine keeps working and has yet to have a FTF.... I have 2 buddys that have each baught one and like them also. LJ If I remember rite it was YOU that praised the VE from the start and I can't disagree with you yet...GO FIGURE...LOL

Yes, the Sigma name has come out of the mud over the years.

I had light strikes and FTFs with my SW40F. After playing too many FTF drills, I decided it wasn't the ammo and called S&W. I spoke with a very helpful person on the other end of the phone, sent the gun vack to them, they replaced a broken striker and returned it to me.

I did not hesitate to use it for a Concealed Carry qualifying session, and it rewarded my trust with zero malfunctions.

I read a whole lot of noise about the trigger, but to me, it's a trigger. I don't pay much attention to it when shooting, it's harder to keep those pesky sights aligned...

Thanks for the great responses to the original post!

I for one, am especially proud of the younger shooters who have bought the sigma as their first gun and post that they love it. Many of these people weren't around when bashing the sigma was the favorite internet past time.

As I've stated before, we've had allot of fun with it and it has never failed. My daughter thinks it's the greatest thing since peanut butter! :)

Happy shooting to all!

i bought a 9mm and a .40 a couple years ago with no rebates etc. just because they were S&W's and they were reliable and functioned flawlessly, even took a two day handgun course along with my wife and we both had Sigmas. I sold the .40 because it was snappy in .40 and after a few hundred rounds my wrist was sore but I trusted the weapon totally. I had later bought a Glock 23 and spent money on its trigger and hated it, honestly I shot better with the Sigma, traded the G 23 for an H&K usp c in 9mm and never had any regrets. Would not hesitate to buy ANOTHER Sigma.

I just purchased a Walther P99C QA. One of the things that sealed the deal for me was a comment on the Walther Forum that said "the QA trigger system is just like the Sigma's, long, heavy, and gritty."

Well my Sigma is none of those and either is my P99C. I couldn't have asked for a better recommendation!

The Sigma's rep may be getting better, but there are still some nay sayers spreading the lies.

bought my sigma .40 even though all i saw was it's bad reputation and have loved it ever since! it shares carry duty with my SD.. i never have to worry if it's going to work or not i just KNOW it will!

I always thought the Sigma "bad internet reputation" was way overdone (although it keeps the prices on them low).

I love my early SW40F, its a great pistol and I trust it completely.

I've noticed it too. There are some bashers who just won't give up, but not many.

I've got a 9mm Allied Forces that I've fired a few boxes of ammo through. I'm really a revolver guy, so I don't shoot semi's a lot. The very first time I shot it, it jammed about every other shot, and I mean that literally. I wasn't too worried about it, since that box of ammo was the first 9mm I had ever loaded, and I KNEW I had loaded them on the light side. After I switched to factory ammo, and later to properly loaded reloads, it has never malfunctioned.

My wife has a Glock 19. We paid twice as much for the Glock. Yes, it has a better trigger. It BETTER have a better trigger for twice as much. It's better, but not that much better.

I am not singling Cajunbass out I am just using the quote because it is convenient. "Better" is subjective. My Glock 23 has a "lighter" trigger than my Sigma and might be "better" when I am shooting paper. However, I use the Sigma as my bedroom gun specifically because it has a long heavy trigger. If I ever wake up in the middle of the night (groggy)
and have to grab the Sigma in defense I want a trigger that I have to squeeze deliberatly. Although the Glock is just as reliable as the Sigma the trigger is too light for my specific use. In that way the Sigma trigger is "better" (for my use) than the Glock.

I do agree that I paid more for my Glock 23 than I did for my SW9VE and SW40VE combined. My theory on the Sigma bashing is that the Mall Ninjas just don't see Sigmas on the TV COP dramas as much as the Glock so they think the Glock is in some way superior.

I have a Glock 26 the trigger was to light to suit me so I put a NY 1 spring in it. It now feels closer to my Sigma 9VE, and Ruger LCR, and LCP. Since the trigger pulls are so similar it is natural for me when switching guns.

For the money you cant beat the sigma, it is also a very natural shooter due to the grip. When I pick up my Sigma and point it is naturally on target as compared to my G23 with its 2X4 block feeling grip that I have to force on target.

same here. sent mine in about 2-3 month ago because of some faulty "trigger mods",and i'll agree with you.the trigg pull is so much better than ever. And it keeps gettin better. They replaced the sear block, pigtail, and striker assembly, and the grittiness is gone, fer sure!
i think that sw' s customer service has had to do with the better rap the sigma is getting nowadays.Hard to beat free shipping, repair and return with no questions asked, lifetime!

i have both the sigma in 9mm & 40 as well as the SD is 9mm and 40..i grew up shooting a revolver to me it is almost the same trigger pull as my 19,66,686 so using a double action trigger is no different
