I just cruised through some videos after looking up something, and have you noticed how much RAMBLING is going on in youtube videos?

I clicked on one about the difference between .223 and 5.56. It was about a 9 minute video of a guy rambling on about a whole lot of nothing!

Clicked away and went to one that claimed it was 'The best 9mm ever' and some guy is rambling on and on about his Bersa and why he likes it. Not interesting or witty, just "Reason number 2, it's dependable. Boy is it dependable. It's a gun that will outlive me and my kids will probably shoot it. It's just really dependable. So if you want a dependable gun, the Bersa is really dependable, and who wants a gun that's not dependable? Not me so I have my Bersa and it's dependable."

My God, write a script and practice what you are going to say and keep it short and informative.

Yes!! I think most of them just like to hear themselves talk. It's a video, for cryin' out loud. No need to repeat yourselves 5 times (if we miss something, we can rewind), no need to show us the same angle of the gun for 10 minutes of the video (it's a video, as in, "moving pictures"). Seriously, I don't recall which one it was, but I watched a 25 minute video of some guy showing a 1911. It sat in the same spot for half the video, he flipped it once, and it sat there until the end. All while he repeated the same stuff and basically said nothing of value.

You gotta consider the source.

An awful lot of these YouTube "featured performers" (not all...but an awful lot) are there because 1) it's an easily accessible venue, 2) they're in need of some type of recognition, 3) they like to hear themselves talk, 4) they think what they are saying is important, therefore it must make them important, and 5) it's a cheap way to justify their existence. :)

I think some of these guys make money from sponsors.

But many are by no means expert in their fields. They may even give misinformation.

I totally agree Lost Lake.

I just cannot sit there and listen to these guys ramble on for 3 or 4 minutes about how many times they have safety checked their weapon and 3 or 4 other useless verbal excursions before they get to the actual purpose of their vids as stated in the vid title..

Do they even listen to themselves ...??

Added: I'd like to see William Shatner do Elvis...lol I think he could have pulled it off in his prime..

I use youtube more for entertainment than anything else. I do go there for handyman tips but I don't waste much time when my bs detector goes off.

What I like is at bedtime to pick an artist and then play the youtube mix of songs while I go to sleep. Like a custom jukebox and more interesting than the usual noise machine that counters the tinnitus.

I let my granddaughter play some tube videos of the children's show "Caillou", and was shocked to hear in one of them that some jerk had dubbed in a whole strings of really vile language.

I really don't get the fascination of "unboxing" videos beyond the small percentage of them that are just showing a consumer, you know, what's inside the packaging of a product they might potentially buy...but most aren't...and just get really weird.

If we limit it to gun related videos tune in some of Nutnfancy:eek:

Now there is a guy that can talk for 30 minutes and say nothing,

Good grief get to the point, he has few good things if you just weed out all the other junk.

Youtube is like the rest of the Internet. Or the rest of the world for that matter. There is good, bad, and ugly.

I've found some good videos that helped me work on my Savage 69RXL shotgun, Remington 870, and assemble my first AR 15 lower. Note that the Savage take down video at the "bad" link is not the one I ultimately used. There is a much better one out there, if you have the need.

I also used videos to do repairs on my bicycles. The Internet and Youtube are like any other resource. You have to be able to tell the good, from the bad and the ugly.

Not to mention the stupid.

Hickock45 does pretty well. Kinda cheesy at times, but bearable. 22Plinkster is one of my favorites for straight and to the point.
