The attached photos were taken this afternoon of the “real” Stan Nelson holster, which arrived earlier by mail this afternoon.

This holster, which is a pattern copy of the “Sunday” holster, was made in Austin, Texas by N. J. Rabensburg during the early 1950s but left the state for about 70 years. It has now returned and will make the rounds to a few area venues before its permanent display at the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum in Waco, Texas.

This holster comes courtesy of Mr. Dale H. Peterson of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

That's a very attractive holster.

It is almost like new. Stan Nelson used it for display. He was a vintage gun collector, an artist, author, log cabin builder, marine and athlete.

I have photos of him with this holster and Colt handgun. There are some wear marks on the lining from this handgun, but they are minor.

The holstorical significance of this scabbard is that it established for us in modern times, that there were two eras of Brill scabbards and the exact construction features of the "late" ones by Rabensburg. I've long had images of it from Nelson himself and shared them with several forums since then. And included them in Holstory the Book.
