Some Taurus 9mms have a very good reputation for reliability. But Taurus continues to introduce new or "upgraded" models so resale value on their guns isn't very high. The discontinued single stack 709 model did very well in a reliability comparison test several years ago done by G&A magazine I think. I bought one and put about 100 rds through it with no malfunctions. But I have too many guns period. A younger married couple that has helped me several times in my old age don't have a lot of money and the wife is at home alone during the day while hubby is at work. So I gave her the 709 plus an extra magazine that I bought and a box of ammo. She was happy and so was I.
