Thanks Sal, that was a great way to whet the appetite for the Christmas Eve meal, and bring back fond memories.
I used to be so excited as a child, when the whole family would meet at grandma's house. She was the general from Naples Italy, and her American daughters were her troops, as the house filled with generations of hungry family.
Grandma leading her daughters.
Today, I'm the matriarch, as my sister and I now lead the dinner. It warms my heart like nothing else, to witness the good memories of family being passed down.
20 years ago I taught my eldest two grandchildren to make rice balls for Christmas Eve, when they were 5 and 6 years old. Now my two youngest grandchildren are making Christmas cookies, and they are 5 and six years old.
May all of you feel the love of Christ on Christmas and throughout your lives, and may God protect those who go in harms way for us.
