The worlds coolest station wagon...

I'd rather daily-drive an RS6 Avant, but the big Ford would be nice to cruise in once in a while...

I hope the host had a tetanus shot prior to walking around those junkyards!

Go fast with class. That's my idea of a "grocery getter"!! Something along the lines of a Porsche Cayenne , when you got to get the kids to soccer practice in a hurry!! I was never much a fan of four door cars or wagons, but I think I could make an exception for this one. Big block Ford and a four speed...yeah...I could do that. Best, Bob.

missed a chance at one just like it by about 4 hours... but with an automatic... and in better shape... ugh... probably a good thing... wife would have hurt me for that one...

Ford coulda made a two door wagon off of the Galaxy wagons from '65 thru '68.

That wouda been cool but I guess there was no real market for a two door wagon then.

The '65 had a straight fender line and if someone found some 2dr sedan doors and pillars and had a little time he could build a cool 2dr ford wagon.

Full Frame, Big Block FE with a Top-Loader.

Dreams.

Pretty amazing! I didn't catch what the original purchase price was on the wagon, not sure it was mentioned. Fun watch this morning, thanks.

I loved those old station wagons! I remember the various seat arrangements in the back, some faced toward the back, some to the side like in the video, some had glass in the roof, and they were solid. Never knew they had the big engines available though and definitely never saw a stick in one.

I did however have a friend that had an old 60-something Chevy station wagon with a souped up 327 and a four-speed but other than that, the body and wheels were all stock. Just looked like a family station wagon but it was fast. It was that steel green color whatever it was called.

We'd cruise around in it and pull up next to a muscle car and jump on it from a stop light. It became very popular around town, but there were always those who we could surprise on any given Friday or Saturday night. Man, glory days!!

I went through the GM Heritage museum a few years back. One of my favorite cars on display was a 69 Kingswood Estate wagon, white with fake wood sides, equipped with a 427, 4 speed, 3.73 rear end.

I had a good friend who had a early '60s Chevy II Wagon. I was originally a six but he went through a few small blocks. Always looking for more power. It had a powerglide trans. That little wagon was scary fast.

Let me change power to speed. First was a 283 that was high strung then a 327 that had the 1.94 heads ported in his driveway. RPMs

Neighbors had a Country Squire about that vintage, banana yellow with "wood" panel. 428 but an automatic trans. When the folks let their kid take it, he'd wind it up in neutral and dump it into drive. One rear tire would spin and bounce up and down as the motor finally overcame the car's mass. I never understood how that driveline held up.
