the thing that bothers me with this classic--on a few nights ago--is that the bandit leader-played excellently by: Eli Wallach--was stupid enough to give them their guns back.

I love the theme music by Elmer Bernstein and want to have it as a ring tone when I get a better phone.:)

The heck with the new version. Between the original Seven Samurai and The Magnificent Seven we have no need for any more.
Same can be said for the Magnificent seven. It is a "new version". 7 Samurai is the original (and probably not if we look hard enough). This is no different. It's just a remake.

If the critics around here are right should be to cable real soon. Will be a real dilemma to choose from this or the Gunsmoke episode I've already seen 15 times. Probably go with Gunsmoke.
Definitely 1st work problems

I saw the remake last night.

Not great by any stretch, but far from the worst western made recently.

There were a LOT of beauty shots of Colts and some Winchesters. It appeared the bad guy had a Smith.

Guns aside--I think it's a travesty no matter what? No-100 wild horses could not drag me in to see this movie-even if I were to recieve a free-life-time deal at The Alamo Drafthouse (after ours opens though) with free any amount of food and drink too.

Doesnt say much for this one, as IMO--all the last westerns made recently smelled as bad as a backed-up sewer.

The 1st Mag 7 being a remake is why I mentioned the original Seven Samurai and Magnificent Seven in my post. IMO it is one of the rare remakes that was as good as the original, and my goodness, the cast.

That cast by no means--cant ever be bested with especially what we have now.

It wont replace the original but there is a TV series of the same name on ThisTV (OTA) Saturday nights. It's watchable considering what else is available.

How long has it been on? Ive never heard a TMS tv series...

The series aired on TV from '98-2000 but it seems there were only 23 one hour episodes.

Another series that follows this on Saturday nite is "Dead Man's Gun" which aired from '97-'99.
