How many people are thinking of getting PainterlyShotgroup dust cover?

And why?

Well i've been thinking about it for a while, b/c it is one of the few options that are being made by people on the forums to make this gun look / feel more like a real ar-15, there are some differences between the types of guns of course, but this makes it in spec i guess you could say, the craftsmanship and thought process make this seem to be a very good product, but certain features as well make me say, is this really something i need on a 22LR..?, but i mean it really depends on what people like/want but like they say opinions are like a-holes everyones got one..!!!

Thanks for the link Brett248Vista. It was very helpful. I also want to purchase one of these dust covers and will be sometime this week. How has it performed at the range? I don't want to put something on that's just gonna fall off after a 100 or 200 rounds.

Oh and Brett248Vista, thanks for the crayon tip. I completed my 15-22 last night and it looks AWESOME:) I'll be posting pictures again later this week. I'm waiting on my UTG OP bipod and Magpul magazine pullers.

I haven't had a chance to get out to the range with mine. Doug has one on his own rifle and I'm sure he's fired the heck out of it. I doubt with the two part super glue I used it will come off any time soon :)

Went to range today, what I need more than dust cover is extended bolt release like I have on my AR 15 I kept trying to release bolt today with trigger finger and nothing there.
Anyone know who makes one?

I already have Belt-feds Extended Charging Handle - I am looking for the extended bolt release, it clips on the release catch and extends down to the trigger guard area so you can use trigger finger to release bolt. the AR 15 one does not work.

as far as i know, no one is making one for the 15-22 yet.. im waiting for someone to make one as i dont want to bend a $30 lever to fit, and im not liking the idea of filing my lower

Ooops! Sorry, I misread. Really the AR one doesn't work? Is that because of the shape of the trigger guard on the 15-22?

That would be a cool upgrade for the 15-22. There certainly is enough ingenuity among all the forum members here to come up with something.

my AR one is offset then straight down and lands in the trigger guard, the MP15-22 needs to have a dogleg on it to get there. but I have not found one for it yet.

Why. 1. Because Doug is a (PainterlyShotgroup) had a great idea for the 15-22 and followed up on it (as have others) 2. It is way cool looking and dressed up the rifle a lot. 3. I works very well and that's the ultimate test of any product. I hope this helps.

I ordered thay aluminum one that was posted from ebay then deleted for some reason. I'll review that once I receive out.

I'm sure they just deleted the listing due to running out of stock.
Yeah let us know how it works out for you. The design sure looks a lot like CPTBeakers though...

I'm curious how well the finish will match. CP's and yours appear to be a nice match to the receiver and both magnetic inlays are much cleaner than that ebay one.

The thread Clark was refering to was the original thread posted here. It was deleted here on the forum for some reason.

As far as the design, it's ok with me that it's similar. That's why I posted it. My design was based off your design. I have no personal desire to make and sell them. I tried that with 1911 pistol grips. It's a lot of work and very little payoff. It's fun making them for a while but gets old, especially when you realize that the time you put in to making, advertising, shipping, raw materials, special tools if necessary, etc.., oh also forgot to add upset spouse...:) isn't worth it.

I posted the 'how to' thread for my design hoping someone would make these out of aluminum or Delrin on a milling machine. If someone can make a buck, good for them. :)

BTW, how's your venture going? There seems like a lot of interest here on the forum for a dust cover.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. "Darksavior" is/was his handle had posted two threads, one introducing himself but also mentioning the ebay cover and another thread with only the ebay info. The strictly ebay one disappeared, but I'm pretty sure his introduction thread is still there. Just no one welcomed him for some reason and it got buried in new threads.

But also the last time I checked the ebay listing was gone too.

My venture is going okay. Like you were saying, I want to eventually have these machined. So I'm starting to look into that. But making them by hand has been great and it would not have been possible without this forum! There is really a great collaborative community here :)
