thinking of a ride on Virgin Galactic?

I just don't see going straight up then down, and to an altitude that's a hair more than half way to the lowest earth orbit, is "space". And people are lined up to pay a sum for a ride that could buy a house. Mighty expensive 30 minute ride.

I'd go in a heartbeat if I could afford it.
I was hearing the other day that a ticket is projected to be right around $100k.
That's a lot of dough for 5 minutes in space.
Still, its a pretty impressive achievement, and I'm sure the price will come down over time.
Maybe when it gets down into the $20k range I'll be able to afford a ticket.

Interesting to watch the video of the whole thing. Not for me, thankyou very much. If I wanted to toss around $200,000+ it sure wouldn't be on something with nothing of value in return ( those folks paying good money for a ride have so much dough, they don't worry about where it went :p ). For me, I could buy that factory documented, '69 mint condition Chevy Camaro COPO I've drooled over for years. :D:D I think this post could be called Serious thread drift. :o:)

If thats a copo it must be a rat? Is it? Hood scoop and dog dish caps, very utilitarian, very beautiful, the things dreams are made of and black to boot, thanx for the pic.

Of course it’s an ostentatious display of wealth, and easy to criticise.

But the original Cold-War driven government space efforts are largely AWOL due to money issues.

So the commercial space race between the billionaires is what’s currently driving space technology and achievements. Brandon, Bezos, Musk.

If they have the money to do it, and anyone else who’s able and willing to pay for the experience, I say go for it. Publicity included. Every paying customer helps the program.

I doubt I could ever afford to be one, or would qualify healthwise. But I‘m cheering them on.

Must be a "rat" ( this is a file photo); If it was an untouched factory car, another zero would be added to the price. :D
