Looks to me as if they tried to polish around the screws for the sideplate/The auction house description rated the finish “97% original blue”. It looks fine until you put it under bright light. This photo exaggerates what I first saw last night:
I don’t know how to describe the shape on the side plate. However, it looks as if the odd shape is more polished than out toward the edges. The same odd shape shows up on the other side too. I even went to the auction preview and didn’t see this. It’s only visible under bright light.

Ralph , My 1st model S/N20081 has the hand in pl;ace ,it is a 8" barrel gun with matching numbers

When I first glanced at your serial number I thought it might be one of "neat" ones. No such luck! My almost neat one was 23001--as in "Close, but no Cigar!" It too was an 8". I'll say one thing for it, it fetched a startling price------$3,530!
