Took the .40 out today. The targets are 6" paper plates. I tried something I'd seen on elsewhere on the web, the black targets are paper plates that have a plastic grocery sack stretched tight around it and spray painted black. The idea is to create homemade splatter targets.

It worked so-so, this was ranging from 3 yds to 15 yds; the hits were just visible from 15, more so closer in. The plates are too flimsy to stretch the plastic as tightly as it needed to be, I think it would work better with stiffer cardboard. But paper plates are around $2.00 for a hundred at the dollar store and make decent enough targets.

Edited to add: For some squirrelly reason the pics are appearing upside down. The black targets were actually on top

I never thought about using paper plates. Great idea. About the right size too!

Yeah the plates are a decent enough approximation of a head, and a walmart bag over a piece of cardboard makes a workable torso. The wife buys a lot of stuff on Amazon, so I save all of the shipping boxes, break them down and cut them to fit the target stand where I shoot. A plain piece of 8 1/2 x 11 paper is a good vitals zone too.
