But worth it. I wish the PC would announce and take deposits on a new Registered Magnum, no internal lock, with choice of barrel length, with the front sight set back from the end of the barrel to maintain the look of the originals, choice of sights, etc., like the originals, except with the hammer block, etc.

Deposit one-third or one-half with the order, balance upon completion, or whatever (this is to make sure that those who say they will take one really will), and wait.

Upon completion, the revolver ships from factory directly to your chosen FFL, attention to the buyer, so that the factory letter shows the buyer's name.

Yes, I realize this would be a big pain, but the price could reflect the amount of pain for the factory, and those who want one will pay.

Just think, with our economic woes now, we would face the same challenges buying our 21st Century RM as our ancestors did in the late-1930s!

I would like to see the above, but offer a bunch of options, including:

1) Tritium or gold bead front sight
2) T-Grips, other grips including Crimson Trace.
3) Better checkering than on their current M27
4) Choice of adjustable or fixed rear sight with tritium
5) Cylinders with either six or eight shots
6) Precut for moonclips
7) Trigger job INCLUDED
8) Alternative finishes

I like the idea, but based on what S&W is already charging for their "Classic" series, I can easily see the cost being over $2K and I don't know how many buyers there would be at that price.
