Good morning fellas. Just thinking out loud here so y'all please forgive me if this has been asked before. I'm gonna do a test when it cools down some but has anybody noticed poi changes due to where the red dot/scope is placed on the rail? Like if the gun is sighted in then scope removed and not placed in the exact same pic slot would the poi be thrown off?
Thanks,
Eddie

Lots of variables there.

If you're using a cheap mount, I would expect POI change even putting it back in the same slots. If you're using something like a GDI mount, less so.

Moving it one slot fore/aft on the receiver's rail section with a red dot, probably won't notice. With a magnified optic, maybe.

If you're putting it on the handguard, I would expect some change, regardless of mount.

I've never put faith in any zero after removing an optic personally. Regardless of the mount, something may be a hair off that won't be noticable unless the distance is great enough to show it. Under 100 yards, probably wouldn't notice a change however.

It does make a difference if you're shooting at short ranges. At 25m a couple of spaces front or back will likely result in a few inches up and down. The higher the red dot is mounted from the bore axis the more pronounced it is too.
