A wire brush, hand or grinder mounted, works just fine for me. If not I have a set of "thread chaser"nuts for damaged threads, don't forget the safety glasses at grinder wheel.

Spinning the bolt against a hand held wire brush in the fixture,,
instead of the more common method of holding the bolt against a spinning wire wheel mounted on a bench grinder or in a drill.

What ever is more handy for your particular type of work I guess.

Probably works good, but I have personally never tried one or even seen one in hand.
Most of the stuff I work with is likely too small for the tool (gun screws).
I get by with the wirewheel on a motor mount and the ends of my fingers get a good cleaning as well by the time I'm done.

Just last week, brand new threaded jack post bolt was buggered from the package. 1" threads cleaned up with a bastered file in about 60 seconds!

Another gizmo no one really needs, but their market is directed toward the gadget-oriented.
