Threaded Barrel Question

Just bought myself one of those true presition barrels for my Shield 9.
The info that it gives me is:
BROACH CUT

6 GROOVE RIFLING

1/16 TWIST

1/2X28 BARREL

VITON O-RING & PROTECTOR

11 DEGREE CROWN

What kind or type of compensator should I buy? Im kinda new to threaded stuff haha will any 9mm compensator work? Thanks!

My threaded pistol barrels are for suppressors, not compensators.

I do have a 9mm Precision threaded barrel for my Shield, although I have not yet shot it as it is getting refinished.

I would not be interested in putting a compensator on a small, concealed carry pistol like a Shield. Maybe on a larger range gun to reduce muzzle flip, but I have not found the need. I don't consider my Shield to be a range gun, and I don't find 9mm difficult to control, even in the Shield. I have not felt the need for porting a Shield barrel either, which I think would accomplish about the same results as adding a compensator.
 
1/2-28 thread is a common size for barrel attachments. Just make sure the compensator or suppressor you get is for that thread size.
 
The problem with putting an external compensator on any autoloader is that had to be indexed. You wouldn't want the port facing anywhere but up. Thread locker won't work because the compensator has to be removed to get the barrel out of the slide. The customary method to index a compensator is to use a grub (set) screw. Screwing a grub screw into a compensator and against the threaded barrel will bugger up the threads on the barrel, making the compensator difficult to remove. The best method is to mill a flat spot or dimple on the barrel for the grub screw to land on without buggering up the threads.

Suppressors don't have this issue because they don't need indexing. The one compensator Silencerco Osprey that does need indexing is indexed within the silencer independant of the threads.

Note: Regular thread locker, in this instance, won't work for 2 reasons, one mentioned above and second because regular thread locker is affected by heat. After a few shots, the thread locker will become liquid again leaving the compensator to miss-index at will. There is a specialty thread locker sold by silencershop that is not affected by heat. Water is the solvent used to deactivate it.
