I've been picking up and shelling pecans lately and have come across something I have never seen before: pecans with three sections instead of two halves. anyone else seen this? I've picked up pecans from under these trees for years and never had any like these. lee

Been around folks who grow lots of pecans. One fellow shows me some pecan trees he had that grew three different varieties of nuts on a single tree. His father did that by grafting. Real sight to see!

Get a couple of buckets of those nuts. Plant them. Later you should be able to isolate out some seedlings that will reliably produce the three sided pecans. Market them. People always are looking for something different. Doesn't have to be better. Just different. That's why folks who own and enjoy S&W's are sometimes known to buy Rugers ... and Colts. Sincerely. bruce. :-)

Interesting. Looks like they got mixed up with Walnuts.
I have never seen any like them before.

We lived at a place that had pecan trees, and I saw a few like that. No big deal, tasted just like the others.

They are higher than a cat's back around here this year.

Have a blessed day,

Leon

Lee you need to get a nut pick and clean out all that shell gradoux in the nutmeat creases. Then dip those puppies in dark chocolate flavored with grand mariner. Allow to cool and then package is a container and let me know when you are done. I'll send you my address and you can send them to me.

Not sure I'd eat any of 'em. Might have some weird side effects.
