Recently bought a TR M-22 Classic in .45 acp. It has become my favorite shooter. Anyone else have any experience with these?

WOW, four years of looking and the golden rule of the forum is broken - NO PIC!

Welcome to the non lurker section of the forum! :D

Anything in 45 ACP can not be bad.

Sorry SweetMk. If anyone can tell me how to post a picture from my not so smart phone, I will. I like showing off. Thanks for putting up with me.

The Model 22 Thunder Ranch Revovler is a very fine piece.

I am a bit of a serial number fanatic and was fortunate enough to be able to obtain serial number TRR0022

One thing to check, the early TRR Model 22s shipped with an incorrect front sight. Point of impact was off by 4"

If yours is one of these, S&W will change out the front sight at no cost to you.

22

I have one of those guns ,and love it after I removed the locking flag.
I have an original s&w 1917, a colt 1917, and a s&w 1950 target, but this 22 gives me one to shoot a lot without hurting a collectable, although I do shoot them all some.

No real experience, except that this revolver, unlike the 44 Special version, did not have the really tacky engraving on the sideplate, only the TR logo on the grips, which can be discarded. In addition this model also had a "normal" looking front sight, unlike the strange looking front sight on the 44 Special version.

And it's a square butt frame...

Passed on one of those for $650 a few years back and always regretted it.

I had the 22-4 4" and really liked it. It was NOT the TR but Smiths standard production (same gun same sight issues) I remedied that by fitting a McGivern bead front sight that I had made to the correct height for my normal factory duplication load (230gr @ 850fps.) It shot 3 inches lower at 25 yards with the hot 185jhp loads and about an inch lower with the hot 200gr jhp loads
Great pistols and accurate as can be. But it did tend to lead some with the heavier weight cast bullets. If you stayed with 230 grain or below cast .452 it stayed clean.
Below is a picture of it (at the top) with my 58 and my 24 just before a day at the range.

My TR-M22-4 needed a trip to the factory to correct the front sight and tweak the frame bringing the revolver to shoot exact point of aim. The often posted photo below is my first 50ft indoor, standing hold target after the repair. I love this gun and I'm sure you will love yours!
