Anyone own or ever shot the S&W Thunder Ranch 45ACP Revolver and what do you think?

Yes I just sold my 325 TR. It shot ok. I bought as did the guy I sold it to because of its looks. I prefer my 625-1988, and my 25-2 to the new gun both in performance and in my opinion reliability as they do not have the lock.

The older guns are less expensive and a good pistol smith can smooth them up to perfection.

The 325 was my 2nd new smith I got rid of I will not buy any more but stick with the older guns.

I have had my S&W Model 325 Thunder Ranch for about 18 months now. I have approximately 1,000 rounds through it and it is one of my favorite CCW firearms. I really like the light rail option as I often mount my Surefire X200 and now a Surefire X300 weapon light on it for home defense. I really wish S&W would offer the light rail option on more of their revolvers. The full moon clips make the S&W Model 325 Thunder Ranch very fast to reload. The S&W Model 325 Thunder Ranch’s weight very pleasant to carry and the recoil is manageable.

Is the S&W Model 325 Thunder Ranch better than the other S&W revolvers like the 625? Well it is to you! I very much like my S&W Model 325 Thunder Ranch and I no plans to trade it off or sell it!

I've got the 22-4 Thunder Ranch .45 ACP. I got a good deal on it with the TR case and all the goodies, including a pair of plastic S&W stag grips.
I've only shot it a couple of times, it does shoot nice and has a nice trigger, but I don't like the way the internals are set up. They are the modern type, with the firing pin in the frame and a few extra springs located in the hammer/sear connection area. Ask me about popping one of those out and trying to replace it!

I've got one of the 22-4's. I bought it a few weeks ago. Its okay for a modern revolver. It shoots okay, but doesn't really do much for me. The concept is excellent. A .45 ACP revolver is still on my wish list.

All I can say is that I wish S&W would go back to actual steel (no MIM), hammer mounted firing pins, and no locks. Make a classic gun like this actually look and feel like a classic gun.

A S&W revolver in 45 ACP is one of the best revolvers on the Planet...

Back in the early 1980's I used one as a work gun for several years...

I currently use a 325 NG, with certain parts removed as a protection gun...
